Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Right now
I am hooked on this netbooks. I have done some research on this matter comparing between Asus, Acer, Lenovo, Dell, HP, and the Samsung. I have read many reviews by others.
First of all, lighter the better. Therefore, it must be less than 3 lbs. Otherwise, it is just a small notebook and not a true "netbook".
Second. The longer the battery life the better, since this allows you to not to have to carry your power cord. Therefore, I would suggest the 6 cell battery netbooks.
Third. Screen size. 10 inch is better than 9 inch by two fold. As many of you have reviewed. 9 inch many be little too small for most adults unless you are less than 120 lbs.
Fourth. Quality matters. Samsung > Lenovo > HP > Dell > Acer > Asus, in that order in my humble opinion.
Fifth. Price matters. Asus < Acer < Lenovo < Samsung < HP < Dell, If you add the similar features.
I don't know about you, but I want a quality product at a reasonable price, therefore, I am going with the Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2-inch Netbook with 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 6 Cell Battery with 8 hour battery life, XP Home for $485. This is the best out there.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Lowest Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I received my NC10 from [...] last week. I'm extremely impressed with what the little machine can do...
While it is a little more expensive that the Aspire or the Wind, I don't mind paying for the nicer keyboard.
It is very lightweight, and the battery is a good six hours.
For < $500 ... this machine rocks.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Save Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
The best netbook on the market at present. The 10" form factor is small enough to be portable but big enough to comfortably view and type on. I considered the MSI Wind and ASUS 10" netbooks, but the Samsung seemed worth the higher price for the better keyboard layout and better looks and more solid case. The 6 cell battery makes it weigh a little more than I'd like, but getting 6+ hours out of the battery is worth it.
PROS
Great keyboard, Superior build quality, good camera, speakers, battery, screen. Even has VGA Out, 3 USB Ports, and an SD Card Slot (Take that MacBook Air!)
CONS/Quibbles (none significant)
Single mouse button that rocks left and right and is a bit too firm, Trackpad could be a little bigger, Comes with annoying trial McAfee anti-virus, otherwise clean design marred by "Digital Motion Camera" label above screen.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

The battery life is what really get people to buy this Samsung NC10. I personally like the the design and the smaller size of the Lenovo 10" s10 more than this Samsung. It's too bad the Lenovo is only a 3 cell so I didn't get it. The chrome plated on this Samsung looks cheap to me but as far as functionality and performance, I can't complain. I would suggest upgrade the ram to 2gig since ram are so cheap now and set as "Windows Classic Skin" for faster performance.
PROS: 6 cell battery, 2gig ram EZ Access Upgradable, big keyboard, matt (no glare) finish screen, Windows XP doesn't run as sluggest on this Samsung as the Acer Aspire One, powerful enough to run Office, Photoshop, and a great DJ Laptop (Can handle Serato, Traktor, Deckadance, Mixvibes, Virtual DJ, etc.)
CONS: A tad big for a 10" netbook compares to the Lenovo s10, ugly cheap looking chrome plated design. The white matt finish can be a dirt magnet.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheapest Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
This being my first netbook, I was unsure what to think about this machine. I bought it as an on-the-go Ubuntu running computer to lessen the time that my $2500 Mac laptop spends on the road.
The build quality is solid. I'm not worried about scratching or pieces falling off. The one spot that I'm a bit annoyed at as far as physical design is the mouse button. It rocks back and forth when clicking and feels a bit silly.
The keyboard is the real star of this computer. It's NOT full size, but it's big enough that it's hard to tell the difference. I'm not sure what "silver" does for cleanliness, but I'm sure it's great [as a buzzword]. I'm a Dvorak keyboard user, so it was important to me to find a netbook that has a standard keyboard layout with all square keys so that it can be rearranged. This machine is one of the few that I've seen that fits the bill, and it rearranged perfectly.
As far as Ubuntu goes, I think that a few updates need to be created before the user experience will be seamless, but it's not terrible. There is no trouble for experienced users. Wireless doesn't work out of the box. I had to compile a driver and get the driver to auto-load and unload on sleep. Sound has a small issue where the speakers don't shut off when headphones are plugged in, but there's a fix around for this. Finally, the display brightness is a bit of an issue. Brightness has to be set before the OS boots up and then can be adjusted in the OS. If the brightness is low when the OS boots, that's the highest brightness that it can achieve. The brightness, wireless, overclock, trackpad, and battery keys do not work. I don't see this as a big issue. Keep in mind that these things are just problems with Ubuntu running on the machine right now as of Ubuntu 8.10's release. I'm not changing my five star rating based on Ubuntu's problems.
I'm quite happy with my purchase of this computer, and I hope to get quite a lot of use out of it.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I bought this in part to be able to use the webcam with skype and connect with overseas family & friends; however, the internal mic doesn't work. I used the Skype recording tester, but it didn't recognize any sound, not did the control panel tester, despite the realtek mic input having been selected and mute ascertained to be OFF. I double and triple checked every possible fix, HELP, Samsung manual, etc. Online search revealed others having problems with the internal mic. If you're hoping to use Skype, maybe try some other netbook.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I debated a long time between a netbook and an iPhone. As cool as the iPhone is, the screen is just too small for these aging eyes. And I already have a phone, and can't see paying for two, even if only for a couple of months.
Once I decided on a netbook I was torn between the Dell, the HP and this one. I looked at the Acer and Asus, but decided there were too many problems with screens, power, etc. The Dell, HP and Samsung are very close in features. I love Dell (I have one at work and at home), but there were a couple of things that kept me from going that way - - 1. Customizing the Dell made the price go up significantly (I just love bells and whistles) and 2. Customer Service! Dell is great as long as there are no problems, but if you are unlucky and there is a problem, Dell's customer service STINKS! HP is no better, so I decided on the Samsung (great price and Customer Service has been fine with the TV we own).
Just got my "Sammy" a couple of days ago. I love it! I knew that no netbook comes with a internal cd player, so I would have to buy an external one (I got the Samsung in the same color blue). But this makes it very light, even with the battery in! And the battery really does last a long time (over 7 hrs, better than both Dell and HP). And I love the keyboard, so much like my full size one that I hardly notice the difference.
I bought my Sammy through Amazon purposely. I might have been able to get a better price somewhere else, but I haven't found better Customer Service anywhere!!! IF there are any problems in the future, I know Amazon will take care of me.
It's only been a couple of days but I am very happy with my Sammy. I think I made the right choice for me.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Shop For Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
WOW! Fantastic Netbook! Bought this one, sight unseen based on other reviews. Upgraded to 2 GB RAM running XP SP3. This thing cold boots in 40 seconds and battery life really is 10+ hours. Light weight even with the 6 cell battery pack. Cool running with a very crisp, bright screen. Doesn't do well in direct sunlight but what does?
For those worried about the Keyboard size - I found it works fine and the touch/click allows touch typing with almost zero adjustment/learning curve from a full sized keyboard. PLUS... The arrow keys, delete key and backspace keys are EXACTLY where they should be. It makes correcting typo's fast and effortless.
Best of all, the Mouse Pad is "tactal" with raised bumps instead of a smooth touch area. You get fingertip feedback that makes using the touch pad easy, even in the dark. The right edge of the touch pad comes preprogrammed to do a vertical scroll which virtually eliminates any inconvenience with the 600 pixel Vertical Screen size.
It is a great replacement for my HP full sized laptop and performs as good as my 4GB desktop in Word and Excel. It booted up the first time and found my WiFi Network flawlessly. Even the sound quality from the built-in speakers is good for everyday use.
Buy this one! You won't be disappointed. I've already recommended it to my friends at work, one of whom bought one for his son to take to college as an incoming Freshman.

Buy Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
This is to date the best little computer available right now. The battery life is amazing. I received the little beast and immediately liked it. Software loaded flawlessly. Samsung did a great job. It has three SUB Ports, a very handy feature. I use one for the receiver for a Logitech 470 lazer mouse. That leaves two for printers, remote disc drive/burner, Etc.. Samsung's remote drive also works great.
Samsung's monitor switching software works well with just "Function F4" you can use a nice big CRT. Unit also has a VGA port, audio in and out built in video camera, memory card port, ethernet port and a real hard drive ( not digital/flash ). This one great little machine. I think if you do the research you'll agree.
Standard battery seems to last an honest 6hours. I also purchased a extra battery that is supposed to last up to 11 hours. It probably will too. I just haven't timed it yet. 10.2 inch is spark and clean. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
Just got the NC-10 in blue this week. I did as many other have done and set the hard drive as a full "C" drive. I wanted the extra HDD space and have the ability to restore any of the programs that might be lost if the HDD dumped. All components seem to be working great...so far....and I see no need to add anything else except a laptop mouse (just my choice/preference, not a true necessity). The screen is excellent IMO, far better than some other brands I looked at. I really like the exterior blue color I got..it has a classy look to it. The build/feel seem very good, again, compared to others I looked at and handled. The keyboard size/feel is also excellent.
The NC-10 has been everything most of the other reviewers here on Amazon have said. I don't see a need to repeat what most all of the other reviewers have said, so I'll say that I would definately recommend the Samsung NC-10 to anyone who needs netbook. The few dollars more you might spend over any other machines is well worth it. Oh BTW, check out "sammynetbook dot com" for some great tips and ideas.
Take care,
JJ

Buying Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I've owned the NC10 for about a month now and I'm very pleased with it. It is a solid piece of hardware and everything works as expected. Excellent keyboard, quiet, and a very nice screen with an anti-glare coating. The touchpad could be a little larger but I prefer a small external mouse anyway. I've used it to surf the web with Firefox and worked on my house design with Google Sketchup. It ran for 8+ hours on a single charge and the 6-cell battery doesn't stick out the rear like other netbooks. It's compatible with SDHC (not just SD) cards, which is great if you have a SDHC type flash recording camcorder. It takes only around 30 seconds to boot up and I don't really see a need to upgrade the 1GB memory while using Windows XP. It will enter/exit hibernation in about 5 seconds and the programs I've used so far continue to run properly after exiting hibernation. I've considered netbooks with a larger 12.1" screen but 10.2" is definitely sufficient and makes the NC10 very portable. Also, I considered the Toshiba netbook which also has a nice keyboard but it has a glossy/reflective screen and the Bluetooth feature adds to the price. Overall, I'm very impressed and that doesn't happen often.

Save Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I purchased my Samsung NC10-14GB Netbook six weeks ago.
My last laptop was purchased in 1998 and was heavy, bulky & generally unusable.
I searched and pondered a laptop, notebook or netbook purchase for over a year.
Mostly, I use Internet applications and word processing. I also use Skype & like watching videos online.
Here are my requirements:
Ease of keyboarding
Several USB ports
Wifi
Easy to use with Skype
Good memory
Good hard drive
Light
Long battery life
This netbook filled all of these requirements.
I like a mouse rather than a touchpad, so I purchased a Microsoft wireless mouse.
It was a very happy surprise to discover that this netbook also has bluetooth capability. It is great to have my bluetooth earpiece and talk away on Skype!
I am very pleased and it fulfills all of my requirements.
The one drawback are the speakers - they are not good at all. In order to watch a video with sound, I have to be in a very quiet room. I have not hooked up other speakers to it, but I am sure that would work just fine.

First off, I've been a Mac user for 2+ years, so the Windows XP on this little machine does not impress in any way. And of late I've been getting used to Vista - so XP in comparison is just plain boring.
Looks - Not attractive by any stretch. Almost ugly. (I got the sapphire blue one). 2.5 stars. 3 at the most.
Ports, H/W etc - may be good - 3-and-half stars. (4 star ? - thats a stretch).
Weight, size, form-factor - light, ok.
The screen - you cannot compare it to the screen on a regular laptop - its not as good. Better go with LED.
Build quality - nothing negative to report in the short time I have had it.
Keyboard - nothing special there, very small compared to a regular laptop, wont want to make you type long emails.
No major defects to report other than its usual 'Wintel' lameness -surely the world has moved on to iPhones, blackberrys and Palm Pre's.
So why did I buy it?
I bought this as a gift for someone, but I am almost regretting this decision... Except its likely they might like it a whole lot!!
I am not Apple fanboy, though I am both a seasoned Apple, Windows and Unix user. (not sure if thats relevant ).
You will of course get what you pay for - at this low price it maybe good, but consider this - you are adding one more boring , unproductive gadget to your life.
I can predict this will gather dust in a short while.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheapest Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
We purchased a Samsung NC-10 in February, worked as advertised. Then, under normal use, the back hinge began to work it's way out of the case. Suddenly, the clamshell would not open or close...and it was not of our making. As an engineer, I know a design defect when I see it. We sent in the NC-10 for service, Samsung claimed it was "customer fault". We escalated with no avail. My son worked all summer cleaning cat boxes and watering plants to finally get this Netbook, pretty sure that he will not be buying Samsung again--nor will my company, by the way. My lawyer has it now...Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Decide Now
I have nothing negative to say about this "netbook," as far as I am concerned it is just a small, light weight laptop. When I was looking for a netbook I had two major criteria; it had to weigh less than 3lbs and have a battery life greater than 4 hours. After reading all the reviews, I selected the NC10 and have been so delighted with it I bought another one for my wife. The screen is a good size to watch movies and surf the internet and with the added 1gb memory (which only costs around $26), I can run Microsoft office with no problems. This netbook, with its size and battery life, is great for travelers. I use it on the plane all the time. The only negative on this thing would be the speakers, you need to use ear phones...other than that it is a great buy.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Low Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
After carrying around a brick in my briefcase for years, I decided I needed to get a sub or netbook. After researching for months, I decided on the Samsung. I am very happy with this purchase
SCREEN - The screen is crystal clear, bright and well made so it is easier to read than I had expected.
KEYBOARD - My worries about the keyboard size are unfounded as it is surprisingly large and easy to type on even long term
FEATURES - Plenty of USB ports, headset, mic, webcam built in, SD card slot in front, bluetooth.....all the goodies!
BATTERY - I went with the 6 cell battery and this thing lasts FOREVER. I am used to my Dell (no slam on Dell that thing has lived on many years, thousands of miles, being dropped, etc. and still works) but the battery life on this is insane.
SMALL BUT #1 - But you can only cram so much horsepower in a small light package so the internet performance with streaming video is not so great with stalls and such. I have not tried playing a DVD on it but that will be a big disappointment if that suffers.
SMALL BUT #2 - The track pad is small and located in an offset (rather than centered) position which takes some getting used to. The accuracy of the track pad is 3 star, a bit finicky. You need multiple strokes to go across the screen. If you set the mouse to cross in one stroke, it is too skittish to accurately highlight words and such with WORD and EXCEL.
Other than a couple of minor caveats, this thing rocks! And the cool blue color and styling doesn't hurt either.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Right now
After checking the consumer reporting magazine as well as online reviews I felt confident that the Samsung NC 10 Netbook would serve my needs for a lightweight travel tool. I ordered the blue one from Amazon.com for $397 at 3:30 p.m. and selected overnight shipping at approximately $26 additional. The netbook was delivered by Fedex at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. For $400 I was not expecting the same build quality as a $2,000 laptop. It is, however, much better quality than I was expecting for the price. Yes, the outer case is plastic which gives a slight creak upon opening and it does show smudges and fingerprints. So what? It seems very durable. I had anticipated using the netbook primarily for on-the-go connectivity and occasional at-home use when the desktop pc's were tied up. After owning and using this small computer for nearly a month I can very highly recommend it. It is extremely light and very portable. Boot up and shut down are quick. WiFi connections are fast. The screen is just large enough - anything smaller might make some internet pages illegible. The nearly full sized keyboard is ideal, no improvements are needed at all. Battery life has been amazing! I left the factory default settings for screen brightness, etc. and the battery regularly provides over six hours of service before a "plug me in" reminder pops up. I downloaded the free Open Office suite which includes a word processor, spread sheet, presentation program, drawing program and others. These are supposed to be completely compatible with similar "MS" programs used in many emails, etc.
When at home, I keep the netbook handy, within reach of my easy chair. It is so convenient to be able to crack it open, boot up within seconds and check email, perform some quick research, or make an online purchase. Although it was not intended for such frequent in-home use, it has become quite often used in place of one of the desk top computers. Friends and co-workers who have seen this netbook have been thoroughly amazed, especially at the quality and features as compared to the low price. Yes, I recommend this particular netbook and would most definitely purchase another one should I lose or damage this one.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery I was entrall by its beauty. Bootup and setup was a breeze. I was able connect immediately and was surfing in less that 10 minutes. Most of all I like been able take to meetings. It performed as expected from this type of netbook.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Order Now
I am not a computer geek or a person that know much about technology things. I owned this netbook for 8 months now and I am loving it. I used to own a Toshiba laptop and it was huge with a very loud noise and very heavy. I had back pain carrying it to school everyday and because the battery on that laptop only last for 30 mins it was a pain running around the lecture hall locating a plug. So i started to seek for something with a reasonable price, size, weight and function. And Samsung NC 10 qualified all my categories.
I carry it with me everywhere I go, it is very light and the I can type comfortably. It is like carrying my chihuahua, he is heavier than this netbook, can you believe it? I went on a trip to Las Vegas last week and I had it turned on all the way through on the road watching movies. I just cannot live without this netbook anymore.
But one think I didn't like is the speaker, it is very weak. The volume of the speaker is very limited. So I re-installed window xp and installed the original sound thing and it is much better. Other than that, I have zero complain for this tiny netbook.
The price is affortable, it is durable and easy to use. Good for college student or for people who always travels.
Hope this helps!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review
We recently replaced our Notebook PC with one purchased at a big box store. It crashed after one month of use. When it was returned to the store for warranty repairs, they kept it for four days and notified us that they could not/would not repair it since it was a software problem - our option was to pay them an excessive service fee or contact the manufacturer. The decision was made to end our purchases with the store. We decided on the Samsung NC10 for backup after the review in Consumer Reports (June,2009). The Amazon price and availability suited our situation. It does everything expected from a full notebook. The mouse control leaves a little to be desired. The original notebook was repaired by phone with the manufacturer's technician.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Top Quality
The Samsung NC10 is an amazing netbook.
The first thing I noticed about it is its tiny size -- it is the size of a medium-sized hardback novel.
The system weighs less than 3lbs (and just a tad over 3lbs with the power supply), and thus is very light. It's lighter than many notebooks, and lighter than most (if not all) netbooks with a comparable battery life (i.e. 6+ hours).
The screen is bright, very sharp, and the matte finish does not provide reflections.
The keyboard is awesome. It's 93% regular size and the tactile feel of the keys is great. It also has a full-size right shift key. It is more comfortable and usable than most 10 inch netbook keyboards I tested. That said, the smaller keyboard takes a little getting used to for touch typists.
The wireless works amazingly well. It picks up networks quickly, it connects easily, and the bandwidth is terrific. For example, my wireless router is upstairs and I have a wireless bridge in my TV room downstairs with two walls in between the two nodes. While in the TV room, I can download a file at 340 kB/s, which is the max file speed that I can download wirelessly or wired with our 3mb/s DSL.
The Bluetooth works great too. I have a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 that works perfectly with the netbook. Just boot the system up and the mouse will work. No installs and no fuss.
The 160GB hard drive is sufficient. It's a little slow (4200rpm) when transferring files, but it works fine. For example, the NC10 boots faster in Windows XP than my substantially more powerful desktop systems.
Movies play great on the NC10. I rip my DVDs via Cucusoft and Xilisoft programs to roughly 512x300 resolution at 1500mb/s data rate. The resulting movies look great when played fullscreen (and thus at double size) and there is absolutely no stutter. I have 73 movies/shows on my NC10, which takes up 82.3GB of drive space. Streaming via YouTube or equivalent is also seemless provided you have sufficient network bandwidth. I just played a 480p trailer from the Apple site and it looked and played flawlessly.
The sound quality of the speakers is so-so. The sound quality via headphones (or earbuds) is very good.
The battery lasts a long time. I've never tested its limits. That said, when I watched a movie for 2.5 hours, it still had ~60% battery life left. Thus, two movies on a long flight is possible without the battery dying on you.
The system is pretty much silent and doesn't get too warm. It's also surprisingly peppy in performance. The styling is pretty good, too. Like other 10 inch netbooks, it does not have a DVD drive, so you'll need to get an external USB DVD drive if you need that functionality.
Like others have mentioned, get a 2GB RAM stick and replace the 1GB RAM stick that comes with the system. It's not difficult to install. Go to Laptop Magazine's site for the video tutorial, or simply do a Google search for "add ram to nc10" for a link to that tutorial.
The pre-installed software is pretty good. The only bloatware is McAfee anti-virus software. Uninstall it and install something better. For example, AVG or Avast offer free anti-virus software. Samsung also installs its own utilities including "Samsung Recovery Solution III" which auto-launches and allows you to partition your drive and save an image of the boot partition to the backup partition. If you get the NC10, make sure you partition the drive (e.g., with the C: partition at 25GB and the D: partition to 135GB), and have the system create a backup image of the C: partition to the D: partition. The software uses a Wizard so this process is simple. Although the software is a little buggy, it works and is a nice addition.
If I could complain about anything, it is the screen size on webpages or larger documents like spreadsheets. This is a problem with 10 inch netbooks (which offer a standard 1024x600 resolution) and thus is not unique to the NC10. One simply has to adjust.
All in all, the NC10 is a great little system. It provides all that you need and little that you don't. I recommend it highly.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery This instant
I learned about the Samsung NC10 after buying an Acer Aspire One. While I really loved the Acer with it's 9" screen, the great reviews of the NC10 convinced me to buy the Samsung and I'm glad that I did.
How do they improve on perfection? For one, the Samsung has a matte screen; it's highly readable in bright lighting (eg, outdoors). The Acer has a glossy screen. The NC10 also has Bluetooth, which Acer left out. The pearlized white NC10 does not show fingerprints at all; the Acer, while georgeous, shows fingerprints readily. The NC10 has a 10.2" screen, while the Acer has an 8.9" screen. That 1.3" difference is dramatic.
Both netbooks are very nice to look at. The Acer has an 89% of full size keyboard; the NC10 93% of full size. A touch typist will have *no* trouble with the NC10. The Acer takes a little getting used to; I would not like to write a book on the smaller Acer keyboard. On the NC10, typing is no problem.
Most owners order the 2 GB RAM for the NC10. It's very easy to open the door on the bottom (1 screw) and replace (cost about $28). Nice capability, but not absolutely essential. This is not an easy proposition on the Acer . . .
Best of all, the Samsung NC10 has a wonderful recovery system. If a virus strikes, simply boot and press F4. The system will restore itself to original factory condition. Acer has a recovery capability, but it must be activated after booting into XP. When Google Desktop would not relinquish control of a friends Acer, it took several hours until we were able to initiate the restore process and *then* reboot. Yes, it worked, but the Samsung would have bypassed all that hassle. BTW, I highly recommend removing both Google Desktop and McAfee Antivirus (very slow). AVG Free Antivirus works well:
[...]
Both netbooks come with XP Home Edition. That is a remarkable thing, as it's the only way one can buy a new computer with XP today. While some people are happy with Vista, most of industry is waiting for Windows 7.
Finally, the Samsung netbook forum is a terrific support group:
[..]2
Folks there have installed both Linux (various flavors) and Windows 7 on the NC10 and found it a very flexible platform. [...] It's well worth the extra. The look is classic and . . . no fingerprints!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Order Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I'm typing this review right on my brand new Samsung NC10 in the color pink. I ordered this netbook to use comfortably outside of my home without the hassle of huge heavy laptops, wires, and bulky plugs. I didn't expect very much from this tiny little netbook, but when I received it in the mail, it BLEW ME AWAY. I was between buying this netbook and the Acer netbook, and I'm VERY glad that I chose this one. On normal laptops, I hated that it was so heavy and didn't fit anywhere. The bottom of the laptop would get burning hot, even with the loud cooling fan. It was so hot, that I literally burned myself trying to lift it off my bed onto my desk. As for other competition netbooks, they don't even compare to the Samsung NC10. The others (such as the Acer) compact their keyboards into uncomfortable keyboards with their shift keys on only one side, and etc. The screen is a little short for my taste, but it's the best it could be.
Pros:
-Amazing keyboard, full keys, just like a full-sized laptop. the inside of my laptop is pearly matte white that could never get dirty or filled with dust.
-Webcam with very high quality camera and an AMAZING mic. I vidchatted with my friend the night I opened this from the box, when she was in California and I was on the other side of the country, and the quality was just unbelievable. It was like talking to her in person.
-The netbook is incredibly light, and not dense like in other netbooks.
-As soon as I opened the netbook, I opened it up and switched out the 1GB memory with a 2GB memory that I bought with it. Although I did not try to work the netbook with the original 1GB memory, I'm sure that it was decent. It now goes much faster than even my home computer or my full-size laptop.
-I bought a handy little metallic silver case for it from CaseCrown, so I tote it around everywhere: the library, starbucks, anywhere with wifi or anywhere quiet where I can work on school reports and essays.
-When I first opened the netbook up, it took literally 10 minutes to install Windows, customize my wallpaper and screensaver, download my AIM, ooVoo, and uninstall the free trial of McAfee security program that the netbook came with. Extremely easy to set everything up.
-It didn't come with Microsoft Office, but it took 5 minutes to purchase(just $10) and install it.
-The bottom of the netbook never gets too warm, but maintains a lukewarm very comfortable temperature.
-Battery power is incredible, where you can keep it on for up to 6 hours nonstop.
Cons:
-I can't find a flaw with this little thing, even if I try to. But I guess the annoying part is the very short(vertically) screen. It's pretty tall compared to other netbooks.

yeap, I bit just because of others' reviews, and I repent. Wireless network is VERY unstable and we know there's no cure, I have to use tools to capture all the websites to save it for the time when the machine refuses the connection. Touch pad is one of the worst nightmare and I wonder how many times they tested with their samples. Actually, now I can say goodbye to the stuffs from this company without any hesitation. I've tried their cell phones, TVs and now this small-sized laptop(this is not actually a netbook). Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
Ok. when I considered this netbook for my wife, there were 200 reviews by others regarding this computer....I read everyone of them!!! I never saw this one in person...but I was convinced it was the best one you could buy for a reasonable price....I WAS NOT WRONG! First, even in pink (hey it was for my wife!!)it looks great! It is high quality stuff! Secondly, don't be scared off over the trackpad deal...ok...it is a tad small....but they ALL are smaller than a laptop...deal with it. Now here is the real selling point...the battery lasts FOREVER!! O.k. maybe not quite that long, but I guarentee you, you have never had a laptop battery last as long as this one does, unless you have one of those hugh 12 cell bricks for a regular sized laptop! This thing is great for hours of unplugged internet surfing! I have seen the blue one in person...it to looks great...although the blue is not quite what the pictures show... it is a bit darker in person...but still great! I did not even add memory to my wife's one...she uses it for.....ready for this...the internet almost exclusively....I know...what else would you use a "netbook" for..but remember, it will do anything a regular laptop will do. I know you can get an hp or dell or whatever cheaper...but listen the price of this one has dropped! I paid over 450.00 a few months ago for this one....and the battery alone was worth the difference at that price! You will not regret this purchase....need more encouragement...just read the other 200+ reviews....Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Excellent, one limitation, but that not what I bought it for. I love to edit video and make slide shows. This is NOT the computer for that. The video card can't keep up the show presentation. To many jumps, hesitations etc. But thats something I should have realized, since I spend top dollars to install a gamers video card on my home computer. Save Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
Our average is having 3-4 computers/laptops at a time because we need them for work. We have two old/1st generation macbooks (quite heavy) and needed something easy to carry around. We have a quite good knowledge about computers, read many reviews, and became fascinated about the NC-10, which is a kind of "mystery" computer that is not sold in electronics stores (at least around here).
The screen is the best but does not support full HD (as the HP), which is bad because we cannot connect it to our flat screen TV to watch movies from Netflix. The mouse pad is way to small!!! The keyboard is as hard as the mouse keys... Construction seems sturdy but it does not matter much because Amazon packing was a joke and is a miracle that the computer arrived working.
It seems that we have to pay 15% of restocking fee to return it then the solution is pray to God to make it worth $399 on a $329 worth netbook (same as the Accer).Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I just received my NC10 yesterday and I couldn't be happier with it. It is lightweight, but seems very sturdy. Even my computer savvy 18 year old son is impressed with it. My biggest fear was that the keyboard and/or mousepad would be too small or awkward (I have fairly big fingers and acrylic nails). They are both fine. The screen is a good size and I think I am going to love everything about this computer. I don't really miss the CD drive as all I really use it for is movies and my son assures me that we can load up several movies onto the computer for when I travel. Very, very nice netbook. My wife loves it. One problem which it, which apparently many people have (and I have too) is the wireless card. It is erratic and I have to restart and repair my wireless networks every so often. The problem I see with it is that if it is called a netbook, then why won't it stay connected? One thing I did for problem was to apply all Microsoft updates and that seems to have cured the problem.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I have been looking for a netbook for about a year now, and after watching the reviews and prices for a long time I finally pulled the trigger on the NC-10 at a little under $400. I could not be happier! Excellent build quality, very good battery life (I'm guessing 5.5-6.5 hours, with brightness turned up to level that's very readable in sunlight), and the performance running XP Pro is better than I expected (I did upgrade to 2GB memory). I think the size is a perfect balance between portability and usability. I really have no complaints, other than I wish I had gotten it sooner. Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality
I wanted to buy a netbook for surfing and basic word processing while my Dell XPS laptop was back at dell for repair. Given the issues I had with my Dell I wanted to go with a non-dell brand. After much research I elected to buy the Samsung because of the screeen and battery life - and I'm glad I did.
The screen is bright and clear and looked sharper than the HP mini netbook and Asus Eee PC Netbook that were on display at Best Buy. Additionally the whole unit is about the size of the screen - not like the Asus where the screen is framed in by a good 1 1/2" of plastic on all sides.
It was super easy to upgrade the memory to 2G - I removed the cover, poped out the old, replaced with the new $26 memory and replaced cover. Total upgrade time was less than 5 min.
The keyboard is also suprisingly comfortable and easy to type on. Size and feel are booth really good.
The battery life is really good. I have had at least 6 hours of charge with basic use (bluetooth turned off).
The design is thoughtful and simplified - just what you need nothing more. (more like the HP than the Asus which was kind of clunky).
Finally I'd like to do a shout out to JR's Music and Computer via Amazon. I ordered on a Thursday by noon, selected regular shipping and had my unit the next day - WOW.
Cons - this unit doesn't have the Microsoft Works that some of the other netbooks include I had to add it which did add to the price - but I think it was worth it.
I hope my findings help others. This is a great unit and I was glad I bought from JRs.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Top Quality
I purchased this product only 3 months ago. Just this week the battery died. The desktop battery indicator says it is fully charged, but indeed it is empty. When I try to recharge it, it does not because it appears full.
I have read on internet forums the same problem. It seems that Samsung has neglected the battery production. According to other customers they had their batteries replaced by the Samsung Technical Support Center. But in my case I traveled for studying abroad, I can not make effective the warranty.
What botters me is that Samsung, knowing that it is a common problem, does not warn prospective consumers. It does not matter that they are willing to change the defective battery, but I does matter that they do not retire from the market such a faulty battery. Shame on Samsung.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Immediately
I've had this netbook for about a month, and it's performed very nicely for both personal and work-related use. I don't hesitate to recommend this model.
The battery life is fantastic, the quality of construction is very good, it seems to have all the computing power I need, and it doesn't have one of those awful gloss screens that seem to be all the rage in the most recent generation of laptops.
When I was shopping for netbooks, some of the reviews talked about the keyboard size as an issue, and others talked about the touchpad as a design flaw. I have big hands for a girl, and I don't have trouble with the keyboard. The touchpad does take some getting used to, but after the first few days, I adjusted. When I'm really serious about working, though, I use an external mouse.
I purchased a copy of Office 2007, and there's no problem running applications simultaneously - plenty of guts - though I did upgrade to 2G RAM as soon as I unboxed this computer.
I do use an external headset for audio and video conferences because the on-board mic's sound quality isn't fabulous. The webcam, however, does the job.
I'm happy that this computer shipped with XP, but, as I've come to find out, there is at least one benefit of running Vista. I use Microsoft's ink tools extensively at work - my work computer is a tablet PC - and I bought a Wacom Bamboo USB tablet to try and mirror that functionality on this computer. The bad news is that the ink tools in Office 2007 running on XP are only available in OneNote. Vista automatically recognizes USB tablets and makes those tools available.
Overall this a very nice machine for the price!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
