Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Here are my thought after a few weeks with the Samsung NC-10. I was on the road a whole week with multiple plane rides and hotel networks to connect to. I debated between the Lenovo S10, Wind and 1000H. Even though all of the other choices were cheaper, I chose the Samsung for its keyboard and battery life.

1. The keyboard feels good and is not too small. I haven't had to type anything too long, so it's been ok.
2. It's peppy. It's run everything I have thrown at it except a 29mb Sketchup model. Even the quad core desktop with 3 gb of RAM didn't like it. so I won't be trying to run that again. Adobe elements run fine on it with some smaller photos. However the size of the trackpad limits the detail I can do.
3. Watched over 4 hours of avi files off of SD card on the plane. I was at full brightness, I know I could have run it leaner at lower brightness for longer battery life. I got about 5 hours on that trip, again, had the full brightness on.
4. It's light, but not featherweight at 3 lbs.
5. Solid build, the glossy back is a fingerprint magnet, if you care about that.
6. I did install XP Pro over the partitions.
7. Wireless has been flawless and have had no trouble with it.
8. The webcam is very good for skyping.
9. I've heard Windows 7 runs very well on it.
10. I upgraded to 2gb RAM and it was a 5 minute task.

NOTE:
1. If you decide to repartition the 160gb drive and delete the Samsung recovery partition, there is no way to get it back later.
2. You cannot boot from the SD reader.
3. It only has a SD reader, no CF, no MS etc.

I think the bottom line is that most netbooks are so close in specs that very few things set them apart from one another. Samsung was known for its battery endurance and keyboard comfort. Those two were critically important to me in how I use would use it and why I chose it over the Wind or 1000H. Overall, I'm happy with it.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

The NC10 has many advantages: relatively good keyboard, excellent wireless connection, light weight, bright screen, good battery life (5 hours and 20 minutes in normal mode), good customer service, and responsive processor. But the trackpad, even after adjustments, remains a key problem (I do not use an external mouse because it would defeat the purpose of buying a netbook). This is the main flaw of the machine. It is difficult to understand why Samsung has not made the trackpad larger and better. Users should be able to use the scrolling area to move the mouse if the vertical and horizontal scrolling is disabled (a Samsung tech person told me that it is not possible). I hope that Samsung will offer a new NC10 model, which could be perfect. All netbooks (I also have an ASUS 1000H) seem to have one or more weaknesses that could be easily remedied with better design (wrong shift key placement in the case of the 1000H). Additional improvements I would like to see on the NC10 (I relayed these comments to Samsung) include: a slightly larger backspace key, an optional 1024 x 768 resolution to install software that requires that resolution (the ASUS 1000H has this particular feature), and a small light on the charger so that we know it is on. Overall, the NC10 is a good unit, but it can be made better.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Right now

I rated the computer at four stars, instead of five, only for one reason, and not of its own fault, really.

First, it is a solid piece of equipment for the price - it is quality stuff, and well worth the money.

It is a very responsive machine. It is second only to my powerful desktop. It puts my HP laptop to shame.

I did soup it up with a faster & larger HD and doubled RAM, though it was very fast out of the box.

There is a draw-back for its convenient small size - scrunched-down screen to view and keyboard to type on - but I knew that when I bought it. If you are willing to accept that draw-back then you'd have to give it five stars for what it is designed for!

Lowest Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I travel a couple of times a year and dragging my 17" laptop was a pain. I carried it around the airport in a backpack, and after a while it got very heavy. I tried a rolling case for it, but it was so big, I couldn't fit it under the seat and leave any room for my feet. I'm a student and I only need it to check my email, work on homework, and check in on online classes while I'm gone. This little netbook is perfect for that. I'm not trying to run any big apps on it, and I notice no lag in performance at all. It's fast and efficient, the keyboard is larger than other netbooks I tried, and the battery life is amazing.

An added bonus is the built in webcam. I use it to video chat with my family in Texas, and the video and audio quality is about equal to my set up on my desktop pc.

Very happy - even showed it to a friend who just ordered one from Amazon today!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

What's good about it? Almost everything: *Battery life is five hours plus. *The screen is bright and readable. *The keyboard is plenty big enough. *The size is perfect, especially for travel. *The wireless feature works great. *The memory is adequate and can be extended indefinitely.
What's less than great? *The R/L clicker is too small and too close to the front edge. *The max volume is too low. *It does not come with MicroSoft Word. *An external disk drive is needed to install additional programs.

I replaced my Dell Latitude tablet with this Samsung notebook because I wanted a compact and lightweight laptop with at least 6 hours battery life. I am very pleased with this little guy. The size is great, the screen size, although small, is still larger than its Acer counterpart.

First, I immediately upgraded from 1GB to 2GB with memory I purchased on Amazon (another review), and also installed MS Office 2003. As far as for RAM, I have no problem running my MS Office Apps and toggling back and forth on the internet. Prior to this purchase, I have always owned Dell notebooks and desktops; however, this is by far the easiest to update using Samsung's update application. The only thing I did not like was how the built-in software partitioned the harddrive from 1 160GB to 2 80GB drives (C+D). Other than that, I am pleased that the netbook works as intended and the battery life is great. I average about 6 hours easily (not sure about the 8hrs advertised). Pros:
1.) 6-8 hours battery life
2.) 30 second boot up time
3.) the best keyboard
4.) LCD with backlight
5.) 3 USB
6.) Bluetooth
7.) 160 gb HDD that is partitioned during setup (minimum 25GB to 130 GB)
8.) 1.3 MP webcam
9.) SD card reader
10.).Video playback - surprisingly smooth compared to MSI, HP, and ASUS netbooks (using same atom and integrated graphics card). HD videos from gametrailers.com played smooth too unlike the other netbooks high I tried at local electronics shop.
11.) trackpad gestures-by pinching inward you can make text in your browser to decrease in size and by pinching outward it increases the font size.

Cons:
1.) No borders on track pad which makes it difficult to find while looking at screen.
2.) Some trouble upgrading RAM-lid difficult to open.
3.) included pouch useless.
4.)this was a present for my mom...now dad wants one too

I visited my local electronics store and had some hands-on time with the netbooks from asus, hp, acer and msi. I was very disappointed when I tried playing videos from hulu[...] and gametrailers[...]. The videos were choppy. The only videos that would play were the standard YouTube videos.

After reading endless reviews on amazon, and other sites, the samsung was the one I decided to give as a present for my mom. It was important to me that the netbook have a 10" screen, 160 HDD, full keyboard, and above all the longest battery life.

My mom loved it. Even with the 6-cell battery, the laptop still seemed lighweight, and the battery is designed in such a way that you don't notice it (it doesn't stick out).

Windows XP runs fast on this netbook. Opening programs and windows is quick.

Again I was surprised to see smooth playback of HD videos from gametrailers[...]. Right now the battery icon on the taskbar shows 93% or 5 hr 53 min.

You won't go wrong with this samung nc10.

I suggest after updating mcafee, uninstall it and download avira antivir personal free edition. This is the best antivirus

I partitioned my drive c it 25 GB and drive d with the rest. I'll be installing the programs on drive d.

I suggest getting the package - the nc10, 2gb ram, and caselogic case. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality

I'll keep this review short and sweet. The reason I give it a 4 is because it's not perfect, but it's definitely GREAT!

It's sleek and the keypad (while small) is definitely a fair size. The screen is nice, and the functionality is great. It might play catch-up a little bit when opening programs. But, overall, this computer is wonderful and has a good size hard drive, etc! Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

The Samsung NC10 is a bit more expensive than its rival, the Acer Aspire One. Even though a cursory glance shows that they have the same features.

The Features that made this a better buy than the Acer Aspire One:
1. The 10.2 inch screen. the 1024x600 resolution seems to perfectly match the screen, graphics do not seem crammed inside the screen.
2. The Keyboard. While most people shout from the rooftops about the full size right shift, I am left handed, so that did not matter. The keys are a pleasure to type on, springy enough to avoid tiring your hands.
3. Bluetooth. Tether to your favorite phone and hit the road with 3G/EVDO goodness.
4. Finally, the Battery LIFE! It is amazing, thanks to Samsung's Battery monitor. I played CounterStrike 1.6 for 4.5 hours straight before getting bored. Doing late night homework, I started at 5, and at 12 I still had 22% or about an hour and then some remaining. As I typed this, I have 82% remaining, 5:45 min relative time.

It is worth the extra cash.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

After carefully reading reviews on the web and YouTube i found out that the NC10 is the best netbook all around. I bought it along with the Crucial 2GB memory both for $489, as soon as it arrived i changed the memory module and i have to say that its way too easy anybody can do it. After fully charging the battery and setting up the OS i was very impressed.

Pros:
-Amazing battery life mine lasted a little more than 6 hours at normal performance.
-You can select between Max battery life, normal and max performance which is great for saving battery life.
-Great recovery tool, it saves the initial state of your laptop in case anything goes wrong you can just go back to the beginning
- The keyboard is great, and the keys are in the right place unlike some other netbooks.
-The screen is very bright and can be adjusted, also its not glossy so you don't have the usual glare when using it outside and its very bright when using it outdoors.
- Bluetooth and Wifi (The NC10 gets a better signal than my HP notebook).
- It runs fast.
- Great touchpad gestures.
- Very nice design i specially like the front led's at night.
- Integrated webcam and the software for it is good, it allows you to record video and take still pictures.
- Great connectivity: 3 USB, Ethernet, External display, mic, headphones, Memory card reader, Bluetooth and Wi-fi

CONS:
- You have to get used to the keyboard and keypad, the touchpad is small, takes a little bit of getting used to but the touchpad gestures make it way easier to use and you get used to both pretty quickly.
- Was unable to install Adobe Illustrator due to the resolution of the screen (basically the screen is too small for that program) but not to worry i have it installed on my other computer.
- The memory card reader is not compatible with the Memory Stick (MS) format it only accepts SD, SDHC and MMC.
- Requires an external CD/DVD reader, but that's to be expected on a netbook.

Its a great netbook specially because of the battery life, great for traveling and moving around, i really appreciate the freedom it gives you since my old laptop's batteries where old and gave up in only 40 minutes, now i have 6 hours of use, its very fast with 2GB (i highly recommend buying it along with the 2GB memory).

i really love this netbook. i adjusted to the keyboard size after my first week using it. the battery life is great and i have had no problems picking up wireless.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

After my laptop suddenly died recently, I needed a new portable computer, and fast. I did some pretty extensive online research and decided to take the risk on a Netbook (risk because it's so different and so small!) I have never looked back. I've had it for 2 months now, and am nothing but ecstatic with my little Samsung. Always had Dell or HP in the past, but Samsung is starting to make me a believer. Though they seem to be new to the computer world, I think this Netbook is the best one out there, and here's why:

1. The keyboard is almost full size. One of the (big) drawbacks to netbooks is the tiny keyboards, which make it difficult to type. Can be very annoying if you use it for an extended period of time. After I brought my Samsung on vacation with my family recently, they all loved it so much that my dad and my niece went out and bought netbooks. However, they made the mistake of going with the Acer -- a much smaller keyboard. My dad is becoming quite frustrated with it. And supposedly the Samsung has an antibacterial coating on the keyboard. Not sure if it actually does anything, but nice to know it's there...

2. Upgrading the RAM is so easy a caveman could do it. haha Seriously, though, it seems like all netbooks come with 1GB of RAM. If you can find one with 2GB you probably pay through the nose. You can buy a 2GB card for between $20-$30. There are lots of guides online, but in 2min you can basically pop out the old and pop in the new, simply using a regular screwdriver. It's that easy and you now have 2GB RAM. I did it soon after buying it, though, so I'm not sure if there's a big difference or not. It is fast though!

3. It has Win XP. If you're like me and find Vista to be way too unstable for an OS, there are few choices out there. Hopefully Samsung doesn't decide to "upgrade" their OS.

4. Built in webcam. I don't use it much, but when I'm traveling (which is why I bought it) it's nice to be able to video chat with the family.

5. Lots of peripheral plug ins. Unlike the Mac Air (which I had strongly considered despite it's ridiculous price tag) this has 3 USB ports, a VGA (for a monitor/TV), ethernet, headphone, speaker, and of course power cord.

6. In addition it also has a card reader! I think it only takes SD but that works for me!

7. Extremely long battery life. I can go about 8hrs on one charge. Haven't really had to try it (have always been near an outlet), but there are NO WORRIES about the battery on this thing. Better performance than my Dell laptop! There are several settings so you can easily change from a power save mode (turn off wifi, screen dimmer) to high performance mode. I usually just leave it in high performance and can still leave it unplugged for much of the day.

With all those pros, there were a couple of cons:
1. No optical drive. However, if you're shopping for netbooks, you've realized that none of them have an optical drive. That's how they make it so small. You can either buy an external one or, what I did, network your netbook to your home computer and use IT'S optical drive. A nice solution!

2. When I was shopping the biggest con I saw was the mouse. Yes it's small, but it's not that big of a deal. I've quickly adjusted. Every once in a while my finger runs off the top or something, but it's really not that big of a deal. There's still a scrollbar on the side, a big mouse button across the bottom (press on the right or left for different buttons), and I think it's just the right amount of flush-ness with the case (looks nice!). There's even some feature that I keep finding (still not exactly sure what the combo is to get it) that will change the text size of the page you're reading with just some swiping of fingers on the mousepad. Kinda fun if you know how to do it...

3. Price. As netbooks go this might be a little up there. I paid just under $500 for the netbook, other decent ones go for as little as $200. I think this one was worth the money though if you plan on using it a significant amt.

4. Size. I initially was looking for a really tiny computer that I could stick in my purse and take with me, but would still be big enough to use. Though this is the biggest of the netbooks out there, it still fits in one of my purses (a slightly oversized purse, but not a shoulder bag). I just throw it in the little case it comes with (really just to protect from scratches -- it's a felt cover) and stick it in my purse. Came in EXTREMELY handy while on vacation recently, and even just going around town to coffee shops etc. Now that I have it, I can't imagine having a smaller computer. The screen would probably be unbearable, not to mention the keyboard.

5. The case it comes with isn't very durable. I thought this would be a drawback, but really it's not a big deal. I found that sticking it in my purse without the felt cover left some little black scratches on the cover (I think from my keys rubbing on it). But what kind of damage are you trying to protect it from? I thought about buying a more substantial case, but realized i can just stick it in my purse or shoulder bag, and not much would happen to it. Not a big drawback...

I hope this thorough review is helpful to someone out there. I was very grateful for all the reviews I read when I was shopping. It was a tough choice between the Acer, Wind, and ASUS. In the end, I am EXTREMELY happy with the Samsung and would highly recommend the Samsung. I've played around with my dad's Acer a little, and find my Samsung to be quieter (fan almost never turns on and it's always cool!), bigger keyboard, and faster. Slightly bigger screen is a little nicer too. And if you're debating about color (like I was) seriously consider the white. I was a little nervous about the white (just didn't seem like a white computer would look right) but it looks very sharp. It's a matte finish and looks very new age and high tech. Every time I pull it out (in class, in a coffee shop, or even in a restaurant once) I get tons of compliments and questions. A very handy machine that I would buy again in a heartbeat!

I don't work for Samsung or get a kickback or anything (though I wish I did!) but just love this computer and had a tough time shopping around and making a decision. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about it.

PS -- if you're a new shopper to Amazon, I highly recommend ordering from Amazon. Free shipping, and with the "5-9 day" option, I got it in 3 days, like most of my amazon purchases. Great shipping and easy shopping!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Shop For Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

This is likely the best netbook on the market but for one thing -- the keyboard is coated with silver nano. Google "silver nano danger" to find out for yourself what this is. There are two main problems with it; first it is ultra small particles of silver that appears to damage organic cells (which is what makes it anti mircrobial), there are no studies to show that this stuff is safe, indeed there are many scientists who believe it may be dangerous to humans -- a lawsuit has even been filed by a coalition of consumer groups to force to EPA to ban it. The second is that widespread use of anti microbial stuff like this is highly irresponsible; much like the over prescribing of antibiotics, worse even because there is no reason to have this stuff on the keyboard at all, these strong anti microbials lead to more resistant strains of super-bacteria -- the only microcrobes left on your keyboard could be these super-bugs, free to multiply without competing with harmless bacteria.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I didn't want to spend this much money but am very glad I did. I love everything about the Samsung netbook. It's the right size and weight to carry everywhere, and has long battery life, a great picture and a keyboard that feels good to the touch (better than my Dell Inspiron laptop). Overall it's more sturdy than I expected, and it's beautiful to look at, too. Lately I've been hooking it up to my TV to watch streaming video on the big screen, and that works well. I'm using it much more than I thought I would. My only complaint is that the AC adapter is a bit bulky.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

This is a great netbook. I did a bunch of research before settling on the Samsung NC10. Unfortunately, it is difficult to test netbooks in the stores as most do not carry a wide selection. I had narrowed down my search to the Lenovo Ideapad S10 (tried at Circuit City), MSI Wind and the Samsung. The Lenovo got tossed out because it only came with a 3 cell battery. Other than that, it felt like a quality machine with good keyboard, screen and overall build quality. Decided to take a shot with the Samsung and have not been disappointed. This is a great computer. I upgraded the memory to 2 gigs of Crucial RAM. Very easy to do and added a little pep to the machine, which was already fast. The keyboard is great and feels as close to a full size keyboard as your going to get. The webcam works great using Skype. I was able to get used to the trackpad after a couple of days, so I would not let that stop you from buying. Also, the single mouse button rocker bar works fine. The battery is great averaging 6+ hours.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Save Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I was all set to get the Asus eeePC1000HA netbook until I heard about this new Samsung, spent a day reading up about it---nothing but rave reviews from both professional reviewers and owners. After a bit of hemming and hawing over the seventy dollar price increase over the Asus, I chose the Samsung due to the longer battery life and the keyboard having a proper right shift key (I touch type, so that's really important). I chose the white color just because I haven't owned a white computer since the late 1980s when I had a Macintosh Classic! Also while I liked the look of the blue and black models, I didn't want to bother with wiping fingerprints all the time, and the idea of the keys being more visible under low-light conditions was also appealing.

So, about a week later, am extremely happy with the NC10. Two things which the reviews I read made sound very bad on this thing, turned out to be really not bad at all: the speakers and the touchpad. I actually prefer the touchpad on the NC10 to that of most other laptops I've used, in fact! Enough for me to consider not using an external mouse most of the time like I've always done with every laptop I've ever had---I figure that the more stuff I plug into the USB slots, the more drain on the battery. The speakers were fine, I wasn't expecting high fidelity or anything, just functional enough for me to occasionally listen to newscasts or YouTube, perhaps a little background music while surfing or working once in a while.

Build quality is excellent. I ran a monitor test and couldn't find any "blotching" on the screen that some users complained of, it's a very pleasant screen to look at. The latch on the lid is not as stiff as I would prefer, but isn't totally flimsy either. And though I generally dislike bling, I have to say that the chrome accent running around the edge of the NC10 is quite attractive-looking. Oh, and contrary to what online photos might suggest, the "white" color is actually more ivory or off-white.

I love that you get to choose whether to partition the HDD when you first start up the NC10, and if yes you can choose the size of the two partitions. I set my primary partition to 30GB and the remainder will be used for docs and music and photos. Unlike many computers these days, Samsung does not load down this little baby with bloatware, other than McAfee which I immediately removed (first using Windows removal tool, then you download a specialized McAfee remover off Google to wipe away the last vestiges). I also took out most of the Samsung software, and using a wonderful list of tweaks to be found at the excellent sammynetbook dot com forum, leaned down Windows XP some more. Having installed a 2GB stick of memory from the get-go, I disabled virtual memory which not only increases speed but saves battery life because the HDD is used a lot less, and lastly I disabled Bluetooth which is another significant battery drain. Now my NC10's running faster than my Pentium 4 desktop and my Centrino full-sized laptop!

At the four fifty I paid for it, the NC10 is only a hundred or so bucks cheaper than a full size, dual-core laptop from Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc. However for my needs (word proc, Internet, spreadsheets, photos, music, zero gaming) I simply don't need all the bulk which that extra processing power requires, and the battery life of this Samsung is currently unrivaled among all netbooks---the Asus is its closest competitor, but the other netbooks on the market, especially the otherwise very good MSI Wind and Lenovo S10, have only 1/2 to 1/3 as much battery life as this one. I tried out every netbook Best Buy carries, including the Acer Aspire One (which was deadly slow even after I switched XP over to "maximize performance" mode and turned off all the graphical bells and whistles), Asus 8.9" ones (cramped/weirdish keyboards, Linux only, SSDs only), HPs (nice screens, terrible flat-clicking keyboards), MSI Wind (fine except for the low battery life). The NC10 gives me about 6 hours of battery life without dimming the screen, an additional 1-1.5 hours if I turn off the WiFi (something I do when only using Word and Excel).

If Samsung would only get this thing distributed to the major retail stores like Best Buy, Target, etc. this thing would probably sell like hotcakes, because there's nothing else out there which offers the same feature set at this pricepoint.

Lightness, compactness, and hellacious battery life...thank you thank you thank you, Samsung!

PS. For those of you concerned by the lack of CD/DVD drive or burner, you can buy a USB external CD/DVD burner for fifty to a hundred bucks. I recommend newegg dot com, do a search there.

PPS. Another way to lean down your PC: remove Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader, particularly if you have version 9.0, because it is an outrageous resource hog, on par with McAfee and Norton. Download and install the freeware Foxit Reader 3.0 which is about 1/10th the size, for reading PDF files. If you need to create PDF files, there is the PrimoPDF freeware. I found that my NC10 as well as all my other computers sped up quite a bit with both Adobe softwares gone, especially Firefox!

UPDATE 2/12/09: from the aforementioned sammynetbook.com forum, a great tip for maximizing the speakers' performance: Control Panel -> Realtek Sound Manager, 1. uncheck the karaoke voice cancellation if it's on, 2. make sure the karaoke is at zero level, and 3. put all EQ frequencies on max. It baffles me that Samsung would allow this machine to arrive with such a lousy sound setting...now I understand why some people were complaining so much about the speakers!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Discount Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

When I began searching for a "laptop" for my high-school age daughter, I quickly turned to notebooks for their affordability. The Samsung caught my eye, as I have owned numerous Samsung products in the past, and they have always been dependable.

Now, I am hardly a "techie," and my opinion is generally going to be formed on whether the thing does what I need it to (rather than its architecture). This machine (on those occasions when I can pry it away from my daughter) does everything I expected and does it as well or better than I need it to. It's fast, the battery life is exceptional, and it is solid in every respect. It has been in the hands of a teenager for almost two months now with no ill effects. This can hardly be said of anything else in my daughter's room.

Oh, and the XP operating system was a real plus. Vista stinks.

Cheapest Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I own a 13" laptop (Dell M1330) that I had been using for travel. However, I found it too bulky to carry around. I read reviews on all the netbooks. I wanted something that was really portable; reasonably fast; had a good sized hard drive; but the real issue for me was the size of the keyboard. I have big hands and I wanted a keyboard I would be comfortable with. The Samsung NC10 is spectacular! The screen is big enough to work on; it is light; it is pretty--mine in blue; the keyboard took a little adjustment, but is reasonably comfortable (I read it was 95% of regular size); it is fast (I bought the Crucial 2 GB RAM for $25, although I'm not sure your really need it); its battery seems to last forever (actually somewhere between 4 and 6 hours). I also bought a mathcing blue logitech V470 cordless laser mouse, and the Caselogic neoprene sleeve. The nc10 is great to work on while in bed or watching TV...a joy to travel with... Complaints? It shows fingerprints. It is more than I expected and an amazing bargain, in my case $530 with all the extras.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Very easy to use, light weight enough to carry with me. With the 6cell battery, it lasts longer than the other 3cell batteries. I can go on-line and not worry about the computer loosing power. The speed with the 1gig ram was OK, but I wanted it a bit faster, so I put in a 2gig ram. Very easy to install (remove 1 screw and pop it in) I like it better with the extra speed. I would highly recommend this for anyone that is looking for a light weight notebook. I do not do the games, so I don't know how it would work for that type stuff.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

This is a great overall product. I'm a college student so I needed a laptop that was very light, and this one is perfect. The keyboard is easy to get used too, the screen is very small though. I got used to the screen very fast and I don't mind the size because I really just wanted this computer for traveling to and from campus. The battery life is amazing, it could last for days. It's also very sleek looking, I get tons of compliments on it every day. I love it and would recommend this to anyone!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I have had the NC10 for about 2 months. I put in a 2gb memory - no other changes. I added a stock trading software platform that supposedly needed a 2.5ghz system ... it runs no problem. The performance is excellent overall. ONE COMPLAINT: I'm not sure if it is just typical of Windows based systems or a hardware problem, but when I boot it up, about 30% of the time it hangs up and I have to power down - then power back up. Very annoying! I'm not sure if there is a solution ... Windows people seem to learn to live with this stuff. Battery life is very nice - about 4 hours.

I am very happy with this PC. The price was amazing and this was the only laptop that I could find with all these options. You could build one similarly from Dell or HP for 200 to 300 dollars more. Low Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I tried the Acer Aspire One to fill my netbook needs. The Aspire One is a 5-star machine, but the keyboard is simply too small for my hands.

I next tried the Samsung NC10 - and am very pleased. The NC10 is an extremely competent machine in a very compact, lightweight package.

I won't go deeply into the specs: they are well known and readily available.

Thee are a number factors that please me so much about the Samsung NC10. The 10.2" is bright and sharp, though the oddball resolution of 1024 x 600 is a bit inconvient from time to time. The much criticized touchpad isn't all that bad, but it is far from ideal. It is barely usable, but it does work and you get better with it the more you use it.

Audio through the onboard speakers is fair. Don't try using it in a room with even a moderate amount of noise - the internal speakers will be swamped. Frequency coverage of the internal speakers is what you would expect:" mediocre. Headphone listening is more than adequate - and the built-in Bluetooth is a blessing with Bluetooth headphones.

The built-in webcam is surprisingly good, delivering an image that puts that of the built-in webcam on my Dell to shame - though, admittedly, that is not a major challenge.

Where this unit really shines and two of the factors that make it such a winner are the keyboard and the battery.

The keyboard is almost full-sized. The important keys like Enter and Shift feel full-sized. Even with my large fingers, I can type rapidly with few errors. On the Aspire One, I was tripping all over myself. The function keys are reduced size, but this doesn't cause a problem.

Samsung claims the battery is good for eight hours. Not unexpecteldy, I haven't acheived eight hours yet - but six hours running time is a snap. Add a spare battery or two to your pack and you're good for a very long day of portable computing. The six-cell batteries, by the way, are pretty light.

I haven't used the NC10 for any heavy duty applications yet, like photo editing or voice recognition, but for normal things like browsing and word processing, the 1.6Ghz Atom processor seems adequate. I did upgade my RAM to 2GB just because I prefer as much RAM as I can get. I didn't notice any performance improvment so far and, considering what I have been using the machine for, I wouldn't expect to.

Best of all, the NC10 is light. Even with my old shoulders and my old back, I can tote the NC10, an extra battery, mouse, headset and power adapter without problem.

I've only tried the Aspire One and the Samsung NC10 so I can't speak widely of netbooks. I can confidently say, though, that the NC10 is a well engineered and well built machine that will satisfy anyone's reasonable netbook requirments. It is a terrific little computer.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Buy Now

This is my 1st Netbook, and I have to say, right off the bat, that I am extremely impressed. I had an opportunity to demo many different units in the store, but unfortunately I did not have a chance to try out the NC10 prior to purchasing it. I can honestly say that I am glad I took the risk.

Keyboard:
One of the best on the market! I have discussed this item with many potential netbook buyers, and many of my colleagues do not realize that not all netbook keyboards are created equal. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE KEYBOARD LAYOUT, especially if you plan on doing a fair amount of typing. I think the NC10 had the best quality feel out of all the netbooks I demoed. The HP Mini Note had the best key board layout, but I think the quality feel of the NC10 is better.
The NC10 has a stated 93% size keyboard. But more importantly it has a large sized 'Enter' key, right 'Shift' key, and most importantly a reasonably sized 'Backspace' key. If I had a complaint it would be that the 'Backspace' key could have been a bit bigger. (I use it a lot, due to my poor typing skills) That being said, it really has not caused me a problem.

Score: 4.5/5.0

Screen:
The 10" screen is perfect! I had tried a couple of 8.9" screens and they were reasonable and I would not shy away from an 8.9" screen for casual usage, but the 10" screen strikes the perfect balance between portability and eye strain.
In addition the NC10 has a nice matte finish as opposed to a glossy finish. My 15.4" notebook as a glossy finish which I like for home use and when playing games and watching movies, but the matte screen on the Samsung is very smart, due the various environments that I use it. When in brightly lit areas I have no problems with glare and the NC10 has many brightness settings which can easily over come a bright room.

I have yet to try and use it outside (winter here in the Midwest), but once I do, I will submit and update to this review.

Score: 4.5/5.0

Battery Life:

Wow! This is really about all I can say. Wow!
Ok, I will elaborate:

I was EXTREMELY skeptical about the published battery life data being reported on the internet for the NC10. My thought process was, if it has essentially the same type of internal workings as all of the other netbooks, then how could it really offer upwards of 8 hours of battery life? Other 6 cell notebooks are in the 4-6 hour range, how could the Samsung really be that much longer? Truth be told, I don't know, but it really does operate for approximately 6-8 hours on a full battery charge, depending on the type of work I am doing.

Score: 5.0 / 5.0 (I should rate it a 10.0 out of 5.0)

Performance:

I was concerned before buying a Netbook on the level of performance these little machines can offer. Rather than listing a bunch of bench mark performance tests and numerical score, that don't mean anything to most readers, I can comment on how the machine handles various applications:

Windows startup: I can't tell the difference on startup for my netbook when compared to my desktop/laptop. No issue.

MS Office 2003: Seamless. Again, I don't notice any real difference between running Office on my work laptop or desktop.

Web surfing: That's what these little guys were made for. No problems surfing or streaming video on Youtube.

Higher Performance Apps: I have tried to run some high quality compressed MP4 movies on the NC10, and it handles them OK. There are some screen artifacts from time to time and some lag. This was also the only application I was running at the time, so I think it would trip on itself, if I was trying to surf and watch a high quality video (when would I do that?)

I have not tried to run any games yet on the NC10. Once I do I will update this review.

I would expect that the NC10 would be on par with other netbooks, sine many of the new netbooks are cookie cutter when it comes to the hardware. For users who are wondering whether a netbook has enough horsepower for everyday work use (email, Office, some low-medium video quality, picture editing, etc), the answer is: Yes! It is actually more power than I thought it would be. But let me be clear, this is not a high power machine that can allow for high order processing, gaming, and HD video.

Score: 4.0 / 5.0 <-- again, probably on par with all other netbooks

Build Quality:

The look, feel, and build quality of the Samsung NC10 is 2nd to none. As I mentioned the keyboard keys response and feel are the best available. The device feels like a very high end piece of equipment. There is no bend in the keyboard, like I noticed on lower ender competitors, and the screen is well balanced with the unit, no matter of what angle it is sitting. Some of this quality adds to the weight of the NC10. This is not the lightest unit in the field (not helped by the 6 cell battery), but I think the high end quality feel is worth the extra ounces.

I will use this unit for everyday business travel and I have zero concerns about its ability to withstand constant travel and use. I had demoed several other (lower priced) netbooks in stores and I had serious concerns about whether they would be able to still be running after 1 year of rugged use. No such concern resides with this netbook.

Score: 5.0 / 5.0

Aesthetics:

I have read many reviews where they comment that the NC10 is 'safe' in its design or that it is nothing special. I am not sure what netbooks those reviewers are looking at, or maybe they are viewing thru the eyes of what more youthful users would like, but I think the NC10 is 2nd to none on its looks and appearance. I love the matte finish on the top of the lid. My 15.4" HP laptop has a glossy exterior, which looks nice when you pull it out of the box, but quickly gets littered with fingerprints. The matte finish on the Samsung (white) shows no finger prints.

For professional users, I don't think there is a unit that comes close to looking as smart as the NC10.

I am concerned about a white keyboard and I am curious to see if it will show dirt easily. After more time and usage, I will come back and edit this review.

One item to be mindful of, is that the battery has a couple of "legs" on it for setting on a table and making it steady. These little legs are somewhat uncomfortable when sitting on my lap. You can readjust the laptop to try and have them straddle your leg, for more comfort at the expense of balance. (at least this was my experience)

Lastly, the touch pad received many negative reviews from other websites. 1st off, it is smaller than some other pads on the market. Others didn't like that that there was one bottom for both primary and secondary clicking. I think these reviewers are right that the pad is a bit small, but with some simple adjustments to the sensitivity you can improve its usability quite simply. Also, I would take a smaller touch pad rather than the buttons being on the left and right of the pad like some other netbooks. The one button for primary and secondary clicking has not been a problem. I am not sure why Samsung did this, but it is really just an oddity when looking at it, but really does not affect the use in the slightest.

Score: 4.5 / 5.0

Mobility:

As I mentioned, the NC10 is not the lightest netbook on the market, but compared to 12-13" notebooks that often weight in at >4 lbs, this netbook is a Godsend for sore back weary travelers. The 6-cell battery is worth the extra ounces, and the matte screen allows for use in various settings and lighting conditions. The extremely long battery life also allows the user to often leave the charging cables at home, which many other netbooks can not afford to do due to inferior battery life. Lastly, the higher end build quality of the NC10, erases concerns about taking the device from place to place.

That all being said, I did buy a 1 lb travel bag that allows me to store power cables, mouse, and the unit. My whole travel setup now weighs less than my previous business laptop. I am able to travel with my mouse, cables, notebook (paper), netbook, and bag at less than 5 lbs.

Score: 5.0 / 5.0

Overall:

Probably one of the best investments I ever made. This will save me many back aches and allow me to travel with my PC more often than before. The battery life, keyboard, and build quality are where the NC10 really out does its competitors. Throw in a 5400 RPM hard drive and bluetooth and you really have a well setup machine for the money. I highly recommend for business travelers.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Order Now

I purchased this NC10 netbook because I had an upcoming hospital visit and wanted a convenient computer that had reasonably good performance and a small footprint. I followed the advice of another reviewer here, and re-installed Windows thereby making one C drive rather than a C and D drive. The only downside, my own fault, is I somehow inactivated the ability to use the Samsung recovery function which had a small partition of its own. Along with the NC10, I also purchased 2GB Crucial memory and that was super easy to install. I already own a small external dvd/cd rewriteable drive made by Lite-on and it can connect to the NC10 via 2 USB ports (if you want the NC10 to power the dvd drive) or via 1 USB port if you use a power plug for the dvd drive.

The netbook performed spectacularly at the hospital, which has a guest wi-fi network. I was able to do browsing, email some web development work, watch DVD's play some simple games, and generally put some fun in an otherwise grim experience. I have a 17" laptop and it was too big to take with me. Everyone seeing me use it, asked about this little netbook and they were impressed. I was glad it had a slot for a cable lock (Targus or Kensington), since it could easily have found a home with one of its admirers.

I have loaded some MS Office components, Adobe Elements, web development tools, Nero, lots of photos, graphics and MP3s with lots of room to spare. I did load some adventure games and the video performance is less than stellar, but in no way did I expect this netbook to replace my other workhorse desktops and laptops. I also have a wireless Windows network set up in the house and I can upload/download information between the NC10 and the other computers in the house.

Pros:
Size, convenience, keyboard, wireless connectivity (I haven't had a single problem anywhere I have found a router), clear screen, appropriate ports, good hard drive performance, good battery life. Plus, Samsung seems to have customized Windows XP and it performs very well on this machine.

Cons:
I'm slightly hard of hearing and find it very difficult to hear any sound from the speakers. It's OK if using earphones. I am not at all fond of the touchpad, so I use my own wireless mouse. Graphics are marginal for gaming. It's not hugely convenient to lug aroung the external dvd drive, wireless mouse (and security cable, and earphones and power cords) but it isn't necessary to have all those items all the time.

Biggest con is that everyone in my family thought the netbook was a foolish and frivolous concept, and now they "borrow" it at every opportunity. I suspect we will be investing in some more.

Yep, I would recommend it to others.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

I have a work laptop and had just ordered a new Dell desktop for home. I didn't have any real "needs" for a netbook, but had plenty of "wants". I researched the HP 10', considered the Dell 8.9" and almost bought the Dell 12". I purchased my NC10 from Amazon about two weeks ago.

My "wants" included internet access, email & perhaps minimum word processing & spreadsheets. I wanted lots of hard drive space, minimum 1G ram. I also wanted the ability to access the internet while my husband tied up the desktop. The netbook would also be a great travel companion. While I play different games, I would not consider any netbook for any other than Solitaire, FreeCell or Bejeweled. The Samsung NC10 addressed all of my "wants". All of the positive reviews about the Samsung NC10 were on point. The touchpad is an issue, but that's quickly solved w/a wireless mouse.

Five ****** for the Samsung NC10

My first NC10 did have the dreaded "screen blotches". Amazon customer service was very impressive. Amazon advanced shipped a replacement, gave me an adjustment for price difference (the price had dropped within a few days of my purchase). Amazon also credited my one day shipping charge. I prayed that the replacement would not have the "screen blotches". The replacement is blotch free!

Five ***** for Amazon

As for Samsung, I looked for updates or alerts concerning the "screen blotch" issue on Samsung's website. There was nothing! Shame on Samsung! I registered both NC10's, which the site said were manufactured on 11/30/08. Samsung added an additional 3 months on the 1 year warranty.

Two ** stars for Samsung (for the additional months warranty).

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality

I got the white one primarily to take notes on in college, but lately I have found myself using my larger laptop less and less. I chose the white one because the coloring is matte and not glossy, I do not like fingerprints all over my gadgets, one of the reasons I won't get the new 120GB Zune.

PROS:
- This netbook is fast! It has enough power to handle multiple applications open at once without a hiccup, I even installed Windows 7 Beta on it.
- The battery lasts over 6 hours! This is the primary reason I got the NC10.
- 3 USB ports. It's more than the MacBook Air! (OK that was a cheap jab, but it's still true.)
- Matte screen. I don't see the fascination with glossy screens, matte screens FTW!

CONS:
- The touchpad is really small, almost unusable. I got the Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse 5000 to remedy this. I do recommend this mouse, currently $34 here on Amazon.
- Only one mouse button. Yes, it does register both keys separately unlike the one button Macs, but I still prefer two separate keys.
- It has no optical drive. OK I am reaching here, I knew it didn't have one, and since I have a 16GB flash drive, I don't need one. It should be noted that the MacBook Air doesn't have one either.

The pros FAR outweigh the cons, this netbook is UBER AWESOME! BUY NOW!

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Get it now!

This seems like the best Netbook, and the reasons are simple. I had a Lenovo S10 for a few days, but the Right shift key was not functional, and made typing impossible for me. The short battery life was no comparison to the NC10. I've used the black NC10 for a week now, and here are my thoughts.
3 best things about the NC10:

1) Best Keyboard. Nearly normal size, and just as important is that the Right shift key is nearly perfect.
2) Superb battery life. You can get 6-8 hours, which totally changes how and when you you can use this.
3) Bluetooth. Not as important as #'s 1 & 2, but a very nice feature to have.

I've read people complaining about the black glossy surface being a fingerprint magnet. Well, it is, but it's not that big of a deal to me. Wipes off easily if you're annoyed. All in all I think it looks very sleek.

The biggest downsides to me so far:
1) Internet (Firefox) seems sluggish. I've made some tweaks and it seems better, but still seems a little slow.
2) Touchpad. The vertical size doesn't bother me (after tweaking the settings). What I don't like is that it is at the same level as the surrounding palm rest area, and it feels exactly the same as the palm rest. With my Dell 700M, the touchpad is a little lower than surrounding area, and it's smoother, so I always know exactly where I am. With the NC10, I cannot tell where I am on the touchpad, or if I'm even on it, without looking down at it (I'm sure that's why they put arrows on the right side of the touchpad--so you can see where the edge of it is). This makes scrolling a challenge. Not a huge deal, but it is tricky.

All in all, this is a great machine. I think it can replace a regular notebook computer for nearly everyone except serious gamers or video editors. Bravo Samsung!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Wow, I had the HP mini 1000 and I played with the Acer aspire one and I think that by far it beats them all after actually being able to use this netbook (it's not available in any US retail store) All I can say is that I'm very impressed. The battery life and 10 inch screen size is what made me give up my HP mini 1010nr. Ive had the nc10 for about a month and I can work on this netbook for at least 5 hrs before I start worrying about plugging it in. I got the nc10 for college, I didn't want to have to plug it in at all while I was at school and it allows me to do exactly that. The build quality is excellent and the screen is very bright and looks great. The only thing I found on it that bothers me a little bit is the fact that the bottom of the netbook creaks when you pick it up but big deal. I defiantly feel that it was worth the extra money compared to competitors. After getting the nc10 it defiantly makes me consider making my next new primary (bigger) notebook a Samsung. Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Immediately

After reading many reviews on Netbooks, I decided to go for it and purchased the Samsung NC10. All the reviews I read were fairly accurate. It is a great looking device, has a long battery life, and has a great keyboard (size, key layout, etc.). On the downside, which I've also read, the touchpad has less to desire, and I agree. Other things I'd gripe about would be the screen resolution and overall performance. Don't get me wrong...the screen is very good, I just wish I could view more on it. And I expected lower performance than a full blown Notebook, so the Netbook is not at fault.

Bottom line - I would recommend the NC10 for someone in the market for a Netbook. This is a great way to surf around the web, do light word processing, and bring around with when on the go. I would definitely not recommend this as being someone's primary computer. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I bought the computer for X'mas and everything went smoothly from the box to the table. I installed Office 2007, iTunes and an MKV player to watch my movies and my wife and kids are the happiest on the planet.

Pro - Light, Fast boot up time. Works great.

Cons - It hard to get use to the smaller screen. But then a large screen, means bigger laptop. additional the screen viewing area takes more space then normal on a laptop. So in reality it not a con unless you do not can not stand a small screen. But I personal rather trade keep the small screen vs the size.

If your looking for a small light weight system with good battery life for emailing, light surfing and word processing (you need a separate program for that). This is an outstanding product. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Where To Buy Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Great Product, I upgraded the ram to 800hz 2 gig and it was so easy. The only negative i can find is the usb ports on both sides are located near the front of the computer which makes it awkward to type with both hands when you have a wifi doggle that has to be inserted in a usb port. If they had located these towards the rear of the unit I would give it 5 big stars. It is a super little computer. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

It simply doesn't work consistently. I've checked forums, and this is not an isolated case. Other people seem to have the same problem. The wireless drops the connection after a minute or two. It may have to do with your router (I use Apple Airports), but I've had the wireless cut out with a Netgear and a Linksys router as well. Windows shows that the wireless is connected, but you can't access anything with a browser or utility program (including Samsung Update).

It seems like a solid machine otherwise, so the rest of the review stands.I'd have dropped it to two stars, however, if I could

I've carried sub notebooks for years, and they tend to share similar compromises for the weight, size and battery life. Usually speed, screen size, and keyboard.

This one is no different, although the keyboard is actually a little better than I expected. It's definitely touch-typable, and the smaller screen will probably stop you from working before the keyboard.

There IS an SD slot. It's sort of camouflaged in the front. I had the machine for four hours before I found it. (No, I don't read manuals.)

When you get this, as soon as you are connected, you need to use the Samsung updater to download the updated drivers for the wifi and network utility (the software will find these automatically, after scanning your machine for needed updates. ) Until I got these drivers, the computer disconnected from wifi every two minutes or so. (Using a variety of access points.) Since the download and installation, it's been fine, but for a netbook not to have working wireless is not acceptable, and I was ready to send it back until I read some forums who suggested finding the new drivers.

Movies look great on it, and the speakers are acceptable for a computer this small. As good as my IBM Thinkpad, as loud as my MacBook. Still, headphones are advised.

It's not as pretty as it is in the picture. I mean, it's not quite as irridescent. It's sharp-looking, but not as shiny as the picture.

It does come with an envelope case. I ordered on because it didn't specify in the description that I could find. It's suitable to protect the machine inside another case, like a briefcase or possibly a backpack, but if it won't accomodate the ac adapter without a chance of scratching your new machine, and it won't cushion it from impact. I'd suggest a neoprene case if you can find one the right size. I've used them for years with my travel machines with good luck.

The battery life seems very good. At least as good as reported, but I haven't run it through all the paces.

The keyboard on this little guy is nice. Yes, it's smaller, but for a subnotebook, it's nice. The trackpad as everyone says, takes some getting used to, but it's functional.

It comes with the McAfee suite, which I'm not a fan of. It was eating a lot of cycles. I put AVG Free on it and took McAfee off.

That's about it, for now. Once you get the wifi working, this is a sweet little machine, but I've had it less than a full day, so I can't speak to its ruggedness.

Finally, I've paid up to $2000 for computers to get this kind of size and performance in a travel machine, and this machine seems to handle basic tasks as well as any of those. It's a good value.

Simply THE BEST---Betta than all the rest! I don't know where to begin. 7-8 hours of battery power. Very bright-clear 10.2 screen. The volume "stereo speakers", though not as loud as full sized notebook computers---is acceptable for a 'netbook' in my opinion. To be specific--a quality sound with a bit of bass---though not the loudest! I purchased the Black colored netbook---which is very classy---with the silver ring around the perimeter of the machine. I really like the LCD lights that appear on the bottom left side---which is unique vs. other netbook conputers. Yes, while the top is glossy, it is a finger print haven---thus I keep a polishing cloth with me at all times as I'm most particulate. The machine has a very sturdy-quality-sexy look! The speed in boot up exceeded my expectations. This netbook is just on key--with blue-tooth (which the netbook computers in the $300 price range do not include blue-tooth and may not include a 6-cell battery. By the way, the Samsung NC-10 does come with with a light weight suede type fold over-Samsung logoed case (you'll need something a bit more thicker and protective, trust me)*

I returned the ASUS Eee 1002HA----because of:
-Aluminized Casing was not necessarily all that impressive---still allowed for finger prints and was 'brown' in color.
-The relocation of the 'shift key' from the typical position--I found quickly annoying.
-The 2 cell battery bothered me----which was reported to allow 5 hours of usage as low-power
-Very low volume

As a self-acclaimed electronic geek-----please believe that the Samsung NC-10 is the BEST netbook out there! Of the online reviews I've read, this netbook is rated the best----though it seems the Samsung NC-10 has a low key identity compared to the Acer, ASUS, HP and Dell.

Yes, there are some top of the price line Netbook Computers out there that cost nearly $1000, but not sure they are necessarily better---and in my opinion if you're willing to pay $1000, why not just buy a 12.1 or 13.3 full notebook computer???!!!!

Fyi, I did find a Samsung DVD-R Burner online at Amazon for $79 that I purchased also.

If you choose to go the Samsung NC-10, write a review as I'm most interested in your feedback.

I have been using this Netbook for two weeks now, and it is an amazing little computer.

Pros:
Great Keyboard - can touch type without issue.
Good, bright screen.
Great battery life - 5-8 hours.
Very light and portable.
Works well for a college student on the go.
Also works well for web programming (php/html/javascript/ajax)
Sturdy
Reliable wireless/bluetooth

Cons:
Small touchpad - not too bad if you turn sensitivity up.
Speakers aren't very loud.

This is probably the best all around Netbook out there. It is not perfect, but if a Netbook is what you are after, then I don't think you could do any better.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I bought the blue Samsung NC10 from Amazon after reading all the positive reviews both here and on some magazine sites. As soon as I got it I upgraded the RAM memory from 1GB to 2GBs - it took just a few seconds to replace the RAM.

I've only had the NC10 for a few days and all the positive ratings I heard about are true. It's hard to find any fault with this netbook. It has a seriously spacious keyboard (93 percent the size of a regular keyboard according to Samsung), the battery life is unbelievable (6 hours), and the screen is bright and clear.

The overall fit is excellent and the dark blue finish is very classy. It has 3 USB ports and the power on button can also be programmed to power the netbook down - nice touch. Samsung knows how to make superb HDTVs and now they make a great netbook.

About the only thing that was a little disappointing was the touch pad. The touch pad area is small and I had some difficulty moving the "mouse" around. I finally connected my cordless USB mouse to the NC10 and it worked great.

Overall the Samsung NC10 netbook is very impressive. The battery life alone makes this netbook a real keeper.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Discount Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I have been using this laptop now for 4 weeks and I am extremely happy with the performance, portability and wonderful battery life (6 to 8 hours). Like most products, you need to know your need/use before buying. As your only laptop, perhaps you don't want this or any other netbook for that matter but as a second/companion pc, it's perfect and certainly the best of all the netbooks presently on the market. Throw in to 2G memory upgrade and you are really flying through your applications. I ran vista on it for 2 weeks without a glitch! Now, I've been running Windows 7 on it for 1 week and it's even outperformed both xp and vista. You just can't go wrong with Samsung NC10.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
