Save Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

The Samsung NC10 is great! I had previously purchased an HP Mini, and I like many features of the Samsung better:
Mouse clicker on bottom vs sides
Ethernet connection
Keyboard keys are easier to use (more raised)
MUCH longer battery lifeGet more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I love it! I would recommend it to anyone looking at 1st/2nd gen netbooks.

Avid computer nerd; Works great for surfing the web. IE 8 works a bit slowly with multiple tabs up...wouldn't use it for any heavy processing...but it is a NETbook.

Screen brightness even on low is quite sufficient to work comfortably indoors and in the shade on a cloudy day. Even with screen turned half way down and the processor cranking with the wireless running I get a good 7 hours out of the battery! Speakers leave something to be desired; but then again it's a NETbook.

And finally; the keyboard is great! Also have an MSI Wind...biggest difference between the two: battery life. NC10 beats the Wind by at least an hour and a half--same weight. For those of you worried about the touch pad size...I don't think you'll notice a big difference between the NC10 and the Wind (or others)--both are small. Webcam works fantastically.

Thumbs up :)Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

After weeks of sifting through reviews and comparisons, I felt the Samsung NC10 was the pick of the litter for what I needed, so I purchased one, and after a month of use, I concur with my decision. Great picture quality and batter life, nice size keyboard, quick start up, ample number of ports, the only drawback is the volume level, but not a deal breaker. Be sure to pick up the 2G memory, it's a breeze to install. I also picked up the I/O Magic portable DVD player, works great with the NC10. Buying Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I love that I can take it anywhere. Love that it's pretty fast in loading. When I purchased the netbook, I also purchased an extra 1G of memory, but I haven't felt the need to install that yet. (I also read somewhere that when one installs other hardware, it invalidates Samsung's warranty.) I find that the keys and keyboard are big enough that I can type easily without my huge fingers making too many mistakes.

The one thing that took some getting used to, was what I had read from other reviews...that being the mousepad...but I think I have it down now. It is small, and one's finger can easily move on the right side, which is the scroll portion. I compensate by trying to be conscious of moving my right index finger ABOVE my left index finger, which is hovered over the left-function "button". (Of course, the problem then becomes that the "hovering" becomes an unintentional touching, and pages open that weren't intended!) Oh well...regardless, I still love this netbook!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Purchased over four weeks ago with external hard drive and bluetooth mouse. Have not yet installed extra 1 MB RAM.

Took it on the road for last three weeks and it has performed as promised. Battery life over 6 hours, screen has no-glare,keyboard adequate, touch pad sensitive, but functional, and only complaint, sound quality. But I'm not using it for DVDs!

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Right now

Wanted a smaller, lighter laptop to take with on vacations, and not worry about so much. I was impressed by this how fast this booted, and started running - faster than my 2yr laptop. Was a little worried about the small keyboard, but got used to it within the first hour. Quick thoughts:

1gb of memory is more than enough for me. I often have several programs opened at once and experience no detectable decrease in performance. Right now, i've got MS word, notepad, google chrome and VLC media player opened up and everything is running smoothly. Granted, most of those are all lightweight programs. I wouldn't recommend this computer for people who like to use photoshop and whatnot though.

Speakers are pretty awful but I don't really care about that.

Keyboard is a little uncomfortable but tolerable enough for me.

The touch pad is a little annoying. You can zoom in or out with the motion of your fingers. I actually hate that because I often do it accidentally. The touch pad is also small and can be quite annoying to navigate with so I adjusted the speed of the pointer to the highest setting in the control panel. This fixed the problem for me.

In regards to website display, i've only encountered a few websites that were not compatible. Most appear normally.

Battery life is excellent. I usually get 6.5 hours.

The webcam is disappointing even though it's 1.3 megapixels.

Aesthetically, this thing is a beauty! It looks a lot like the pink Vaio on the exterior and resembles a macbook in the inside.

Yep. I'm a happy customer.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I ordered the Samsung NC10-14GB on 5-24. It was listed as in-stock. On 5-28, I received a message from Amazon saying they were having problems with shipment. I went back to Amazon to find out what the hold up was. On 5-29 they responded "I've checked our website and see that we don't have any more stock of "Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Netbook" right now, and we're not sure when we'll be able to get more." I checked the Amazon web site about 20 minutes after I received Amazon's response. it still showed the Samsung NC10-14GB as in-stock. I canceled my order and went to BeachCamera.com. It was in-stock and was shipped out the next day.

I'm really happy with my purchase. I did a lot of research before buying and I'm glad that I got this one. The size is great, especially that the keyboard is almost normal size. It has great wireless connectivity. I was on vacation and always was able to find a network that had descent speed. I did buy a mouse though, but that's something I don't like about all laptops. But the touchpad on this one does have a really neat scroll bar. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I still wish the minis had a CD drive.

As for the quality of the notebook, it feels sturdy, but the screen is the flat finish and not crisp like the HP Minis. I ended up returning this notebook because the touchpad wasn't functional, it was extremely difficult to use the touchpad and because my daughter has the HP Mini, the touchpad was very smooth and usable, I've always been a mouse user but with the HP Mini I was able to use the touchpad with extreme ease and not get frustrated with manuevering around it. The Samsung I would definitely have to use the mouse to be productive. However the built in camera is better than the HP Mini. So for me, the touchpad was the deal killer.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I looked at a variety of netbooks and this one simply outshined them all. I have not been disappointed. It's perfect for on the go and does everything it should. Samsung did an excellent job.

I upgraded to 2 gig of ram and the installation was simple.

Some advice from personal experience. I purchased a generic external USB Slim DVD CD R/RW Drives Burner Writer from ebay for $30 to watch DVD's and play games. They are usually $40-$50 with shipping included (shipped from China) and downloaded the Intervideo XPACK after coupon for $12 and have had no problems. If the audio/video freezes plug in the power usb cord in addition to the usb cord for playing the device and this solves the problem. This download gives you the software and decoder allowing you to play your DVD with the Intervideo, Windows Media Player or Real Player.

ATT is the best wireless card reviewed by CNET. They did a wireless card showdown this week.

Oh, don't forget to use both the Windows Update and Samsung Update Plus and download the updates on a regular basis. Very easy to use.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I bought my NC10 about a month ago now. I have been very pleased with it so far. I did upgrade the memory from 1GB to 2GB - it's a very cost-effective upgrade with memory as cheap as it is now. It performs well, you can even do some light gaming on it. I mostly use it to surf the web, email, hulu.com, etc.

If your in the market for a Netbook, you can't go wrong with the Samsung. And in reality, I'd dare say it's one of the best ones on the market.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

I bought the NC10 for travel business purposes. I need to check emails when out of the office but don't like carting around a laptop. I can toss this little guy in my briefcase; small and light weight. At home, it is also good for my wife to use for web browsing and emailing. Again, lightweight and small size are big pluses. Plus 6 hours of battery mean no power cords around; it can be charged overnight.

Pros:
- Size and lightweight.
- Great battery life
- Almost full size keyboard with nice feel to keys.
- Windows XP operating system (I'm not a Vistas fan)
- Screen is nice size & very bright (with 8 settings).
- Operates almost as fast as my custom built fullsize biz computer.
- Relatively inexpensive

Cons: None for my purposes but all netbooks have limitations; these include:
- No CD/DVD player
- Limited software (no Windows office, etc).
- Sound is pitiful.
- Touch pad is not my cup of tea.

Things I added:
- Digitech VX nano mouse (works great... around 40 bucks)
- 2 GB memory (easy to install; read "how to" in user guide on NC10)
- Samsung SE-SOP84B external CD/DVD drive (works fine; not sure if needed... around 65 bucks)

Bottom line, I'm really impressed with the NC10; if I had understood netbooks a few months ago I would not have bought a laptop.

If your looking for a netbook as a second computer, this one is hard to beat. Do price shop carefully; prices are all over the board. Also, price seems to vary by color.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Top Quality

I was waiting for HP to release the 2140 with the HD display but when they did, all they had as smart, pre-built options had a 6-cell battery. But wait, their 6-cell is not like the NC10 6-cell, theirs sticks down vertically which would cause quite a problem when inserting and removing from sleeves, bags, etc. I could have just purchased the 6-cell smart-buy option and buy an additional 3-cell as an accessory but they don't offer it as an accessory! I called HP and complained and they said my only option was to configure it myself with a 3-cell, but then it would have been $150 more (over $600 total) for less of a netbook!!! I was thoroughly fed-up. I also could have gone with HP's 1035NR but was so fed up with them that I didn't want to give them my business.

My other option was the Lenovo S10, but didn't hear any good reviews on the standard 3-cell battery life. Again, I could have gotten the 6-cell option but it stuck out of the back of the netbook. The NC10 6-cell is made for the netbook and does not stick out at all; it fits flush, which is nice.

I ordered the white version and it is a nice pearlized white. It is not shiny/glossy so it does not show fingerprints at all.

The netbook came with a plain, standard, soft touch sleeve which is nice since now I don't have to buy a sleeve.

I have used the netbook for a few hours over the weekend and it runs very nice. I went to crucial.com and did a system scan and ordered a 2 GB RAM upgrade for $27.99 before shipping. The netbook is thoroughly fast already, but why not double the RAM when it's only $27.99 and really easy to install?

Overall, I absolutely love the netbook and couldn't be happier with my choice. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I'm far from a techie, so I really liked the cute pink color - even though my three year old son's finger prints do tend to show.

This was my first netbook, so there were a few things that I don't exactly care for, but I understand they're what you get with a netbook. First, it was a little slow pulling webpages. We upgraded the memory, and that helped a lot. If you do this, be sure to check crucial's website to make sure you're getting the right one. Amazon recommended the wrong one to me. Second, the speakers are practically nonexistant. That's not normally a problem for me, but be prepared. Finally, the screen is really tiny. Be sure you know exactly what 10.2 inches means. Again, all of these issues are with netbooks in general, not with my Samsung NC10. Overall, I think it's a great (and cute!) little machine. The battery life is phenomenal.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

As a nursing student, this netbook fit the bill! It's light enough to fit into my purse or backpack. I get compliments on the pink color, but mostly I'm asked about its performance. Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I've been using this computer for the last month, and I am very pleased with it. I setup a dual boot using the Jaunty Ubuntu Linux NBR (Netbook Remix), and it works flawlessly. It seems to have everything I want in a computer, the only thing missing is a CD/DVD drive, but that is OK given the small size, weight and price. I recommend getting another 1GB stick of RAM with your purchase so that you can double the amount of internal memory for only about $20. Replacement of your RAM is very easy, taking only about 5 minutes on my part and not requiring any special tools other than a small phillips-head screwdriver. I stuck a logitech wireless mouse on it, because I don't like the trackpad (although it works OK in a pinch).

The only disappointment that I've had is the battery life only seems to last about 4.5 hours instead of the advertised 6. This isn't a deal-breaker, and it may be related to the fact that linux burns battery at a faster rate than windows. Overall, a great machine for most common computer tasks, and a perfect computer for running ubuntu linux.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Buy Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I have bought a lot of stuff from Amazon.com but I have never left a comment. I recently bought a Samsung Netbook and was so impressed I had to leave a review. I am VERY impressed with this Netbook. I went to Best Buy, Electronics Stores, Office Depot, etc. to try out various Netbooks and considered several other brands. But I kept considering the Samsung because 1) Matte Screen - I did not want to see my reflection or see the glare of the office lights and I want to use it outside 2) Quality - I have a Samsung phone and it works great so I trust the brand 3) Keyboard, keyboard, keyboard! As a fast touch typist I always found something wrong with the other keyboards. Usually the right Shift key was in the wrong place or too small. This one is a very good compromise. Even the page up/page down keys are in a logical place. Unlike the Dell (which has 'flat' keys, the Samsung keys are beveled and has just enough gap between keys to let you feel the correct finger position. The newer Samsung has slightly larger keys, but I didn't want the glossy screen. The keyboard on this netbook is a very good compromise between size and usability. I am using it to write this review. I was concerned about the shiny case (fingerprint magnet) but it wipes off very easily. And I was tired of the same old black color (I got the blue). I upgraded to 2GB RAM for $20 and it is more than fast enough for most of the stuff I need to do on it. All in all, I am very satisfied. Perfect size, great price and most of all, a keyboard that will NOT drive you nuts when you try to type on it. For the price, you can't go wrong.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I've had this netbook for about 3 weeks now. I've been travelling a lot and it is great. I like this notebook much more than my dell latitude D630 which cost me over $1000. This laptop has a great screen and is the ultimate computer buddy. The only thing is that video is a little choppy in full screen mode and the sound is not very audible if there is background noise. Small minuses given the weight and battery life. I actually give this thing a 9.5/10. I would recommend this to all my friends.

p.s. the top is a fingerprint magnet, I read reviews mentioning it but the weren't lying in the slightest. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Great computer for the price. I had this computer for about a month now and it works great. The internet is quick and streaming video is good. Cheapest Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Interestingly enough, until a friend of mine mentioned it to me, I hadn't paid a lot of attention to how popular netbooks had become. But as soon as she did, I immediately went online to research them and read tons of reviews, outlining each brand. Finally, I settled on the blue Samsung NC10, and I'm so, so happy I did! This tiny, little machine is absolutely wonderful, and I wish I had purchased it before now. As a writer, I travel quite a bit throughout any given year, so the minimal weight and overall size is perfect for all my needs; which is why I'd been thinking I would mainly only use it while on a plane or possibly when I want to work while sitting in a coffee shop, on our back gazebo etc., but as it turned out this past week, I used it for writing every single day.

Then, as far as the set-up, the entire process was very quick and easy, and I had no problems at all downloading my office software from Microsoft. I primarily use the word processor, but I also use it daily to sign on to the Internet as well and still my battery has been lasting on average for seven hours---and that's also with the brightness of the screen turned up pretty close to the maximum. Oh and one other thing. While I've always been a pretty fast typer, it now seems that I'm typing even faster and I'm wondering if it's partly because I feel such a great sense of control over the netbook when it's sitting on my lap.

There's so much more I could say but for the sake of time, I'll just give my overall opinion: I love it, it is by far one of the best purchases I've made in a very long time, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Low Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I've had this netbook for 4 weeks now. I read, reasearched, and thought over my options for months and finally settled on the Samsung NC10. The oft criticized track pad is just fine after speeding up the setting a notch. And the speakers have a weird default setting on them, but after changing the settings the speakers are fine too. Loading software is a bit of a hastle with a jump drive, but not bad and I've seen no reason to buy a portable CD/DVD drive just yet. It just takes a little longer and you'll need a second computer to transfer the SW onto the jump drive from the CD. Though it's nice and light, the weight is oddly distributed as the battery weighs the most and kind of "rocks" the computer towards the back when it's on your lap...not a big deal. Actually, I'm just surprised that I didn't read that more in the 100's of reviews I read.

On to the GREAT THINGS.... The battery life is unbelievable! I have to admit, I suspected the touted 6-8 hours as totally exagerated. It is not!! It's a pretty snappy little computer... faster than my Sony VAIO desktop for sure. And I haven't even upgraded the RAM yet. (Tip: get rid of MacAfee immediately! It really slows the netbook down.) I love the portability. I also like that it looks professional, not like a toy as some of the netbooks do. I honestly wish I'd just bought it sooner without all the second guessing and comparing I was doing. This is abslutely the best netbook out there. I'd pick it again!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Decide Now

For me this is not only a traveling machine but -given its good performance and big enough keyboard- it is my office computer as well. That is mainly possible because the small screen is not a problem at all provided the computer is connected to an external monitor through its VGA output (tip: even nicer if you use it in the "extended desktop" mode).

But here is the completely unnecessary bug: the VGA output does not have the two holes for screwing the VGA cable. You still can connect it, but then the VGA cable (that is usually heavy and stiff) stays loosely connected, providing frequently a poor image - something you have to correct frequently by adjusting the cable manually (what certainly will also end up shortening the life of the VGA output).

This daily annoyance is what makes me give only 3 stars for a product that, otherwise, would be a five stars for me.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I am a person who enjoys equipment that works well and looks good. I shopped carefully for price, performance fit and finish before I purchased the NC10. I went to a retail store to look at netbooks. ASUS Performance is supposed to be good but the finish is not as nice as the SAMSUNG. And when I read reviews of service ASUS did not measure up to SAMSUNG. I got 5 to 6 hours operation out of a charge. But actually I can use the AC. The main benefit is the NC10 is truly a portable computer. Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Buy Now

I noticed with other netbooks, the lower evaluations were running 10% of total, but with the Samsung they were running at 5%. That tranlates to 50% less complaints for Samsung than their competition! Mine worked right out of the gate. Everything about it looks and feels quality built. Installing Windows was automatic. The keyboard is 7% smaller than a typical notebook keyboard, but I didn't have any problems typing. The position of all the keys is very logical, so getting used to the keyboard is almost second nature. The actual color is a shade or two darker pink than what you see here. I think it looks prettier in person. There is a single slot for memory and the maximum memory the computer supports is 2 gig, so if you plan to upgrade the memory from one to two gig, make sure you buy a 2 gig memory card. Surprisingly, the hard drive is also upgradable and can easily be swapped out for one with more capacity. It uses a straight SATA notebook drive. However, upgrading the hard drive means opening up the case and that voids the warranty, so you may wish to wait out the first year. Samsung now provides a slightly larger netbook that comes with a full size keyboard, but it also weighs a bit more. Plus, the color selection is limited (no pink yet). My daughter insisted on pink. Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality

After reading all the glowing reviews of the NC10, I didn't hesitate in ordering one. It arrived quickly and safely from Amazon in just three days. Right out of the box it fired up flawlessly and I was simply amazed at how well it performed! I'm a tried and true HP fan and this is the first Samsung product I've ever tried and couldn't be happier. After making sure everything worked correctly, I installed a 2GB RAM card like so many others and it took all of about 5 minutes. Then, I loaded Microsoft Office and several other programs that I use daily and they all loaded and worked fine. Today, I bought an LG slimline DVD/CD player/burner and it worked perfectly with no issues whatsoever. The only downside I've seen so far is the volume. While playing a CD or DVD, the sound is rather low no matter how high it's cranked up using the control panel. I suppose it will be necessary to use some headphones to get the full effect of sound from the NC10 but haven't had time to experiment. Outside of that minor issue, I just love this netbook! It also installed quickly onto my home network which was a definate +++++. On a funny note, when I tried typing, I got all kinds of weird symbols with the keys that are activated by the Fn key. I quickly found out from a Samsung forum that I had to hit the numbers lock key to make things work properly. Once done, it was just perfect.
The blue color may pick up some fingerprints, but that's OK- blue is such a cool color! I little Pledge and soft rag takes the prints right off and makes it shine like a jewel. Thinking of a netbook? Look no further than this Sammy NC10! Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Have had the "Samsung NC-10 14GW" Netbook for one month now and it is great. I ordered the 2GB chip with it and just removed the cover and slid out the old chip and slid in the 2GB chip and started using the computer.

Have not had a problem finding wireless sites and logging into the unsecured ones. The battery has long life which truly makes this portable.

The touch pad requires quiet a bit of pressure to get the zoom in and out feature to work sometimes. Its like spinning your wheels and getting nowhere and then it catches.

Other than the touch pad minor fault this is a great Netbook.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Immediately

Since there's so many reviews on this product already, I debated adding one more. But, I'm tossing my 2 cents in.

This netbook is an exceptional buy for those that want lots of bells and whistles with a brand name (Samsung) and especially those of us who appreciate a bright, clear, and anti-glare screen.

For me, when I had narrowed my choices down to 3 netbooks, the NC10 and the N120 were in the final selections. So was the HP2140. And, the HP lost because of one feature: it's screen. I couldn't get over the idiocy of HP to cut corners on a screen that should be on a par or better than other netbooks, including its own "mini" series. With the HP out of the picture, I argued with myself between the NC10 and the N120. In the end, it was the NC10 with the anti-glare screen that took center stage. BTW, I use headphones for music, etc., so the NC10's higher-pitched and low volume speakers were of no consequence to me. But, I've listened to them now and they are "okay" just nothing to brag about. This is a netbook and I'm not interested in broadcasting what I'm viewing or listening to.

Performance-wise, when the NC10 arrived, I immediately unboxed it and dropped in 2 gigs of 667MHz RAM. That operation took less than 5 minutes (I took my time). So, I have no idea of the performance of the NC10 with the 1 gig of RAM. I do know it is quite responsive with with the 2 gigs. I am very pleased by it. I had over 9 windows open and the little thing was still moving along quite nicely.

Next to come off the NC10 was all the bloatware. I was surprised to find little of it (thankfully, no trial versions of Word, or Office or Works). I also removed the McAfee security suite. I then installed my security suite, OpenOffice, Firefox, and a few other XP programs that should come free with XP, but don't. See Uniblue on the web.

The fan is absolutely silent! I can't believe it. My 17" HP roars next to the silence of the NC10! That was a shock to me; a very pleasing sound.

Battery life? I figure 6.5 hours is about right. If you want more, take on the N120 along with its larger footprint (size and weight).

I also downloaded Ubuntu Jaunty onto my NC10. Jaunty runs beautifully, definitely faster than XP. I'm debating whether to keep XP or turn my NC10 into an Ubuntu Jaunty machine.

Lastly, finish and construction. The chinzy chrome noted in the other reviews was of no consequence to me. I sort of appreciate it for its ascetic "add-ness" to an otherwise drab computer. The case is plastic but seems to be of a higher grade than that of several other netbooks I've looked at. The glossy black top is definintely NOT a fingerprint magnet, as it's more a matte than a glossy. The keyboard is fantastic! Big shift keys for us touch typists and it's size is easily adjusted to within the first few minutes of use. I've made 3 typing mistakes since I began this review.

In my mind, the NC10 or the N120 definitely need to be on your "must see" list if you're opting for a netbook.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I purchased this netbook about two weeks and I really love it. I did a ton of research and read just about everything on available netbooks. I decided to get the Samsung based on all the great reviews I read about it, especially here on Amazon. I looked at the Dell Mini 10, the HP mini 1000, the MSI Wind. Since I travel all the time, I needed something that was light enough to travel with yet, was powerful enough to handle all the things I need for work. There seemed to be issues with all the other ones I liked at, except the Samsung. There is a great support on-line community that offers good suggestions too. I am not highly technical, but can get by with a little help. I'm not going to do anything fancy with it. If you are debating about a netbook, I highly recommend them and I highly recommend the Samsung. I love it.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

I recently purchased this netbook and after ordering was very excited to recieve it in the mail. Almost two months later, the excitement has not subsided. This is a great little computer, and allows me to do all the functions I need to do. The only thing I would recommend is getting an external cd/dvd drive. I thought I could get by on just usb alone, but realized I was wrong when I went to import some of my cd's to iTunes. I mainly use my computer for email, internet, music, word processing, and photo storage. I have definitely been impressed by what this machine has to offer!!!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Top Quality

I've been using NC10 for a couple of months. Moreover, my unit is equipped with a built-in GSM/UMTS/HSPA modem which is a great advantage indeed and gives the user the real connectivity freedom as you're no limited to WiFi's available. My wife owns an MSI U100 which I had been operating previously. NC10's pros in comparison with MSI U100 are the built-in modem mentioned above as well as a better battery and keyboard. Cons is the display which is not as bright as on the MSI.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I love this netbook. I did buy the upgrade to 2GB RAM and this works better and faster than my laptop computer. Since buying I have been on several trips and am getting ready to go on another. This netbook is small and light, fits into the pocket of my carry on luggage, has an extremely long battery life and a great wireless signal.

I bought this netbook for a simple purpose, to use as I travel to manage my blog. I will carry this along with my work laptop to keep personal things separate. This is compact, but not too small. It has the video port and RJ45 internet port built in (unlike the HP model). It has three USB ports (very handy). It instantly recognized my bluetooth mouse without having to plug in the stupid dongle (or take up one of the USB ports). You can choose how big or small to make the partitioned D drive when you boot up for the first time (the partitioning directions are included in the handy cheat sheet). I made mine 0mb (that's zero) so everything is one contiguous C drive. It comes with a nice little slipcover (not a padded neoprene one, but very sufficient for my needs). It also has nearly zero bloatware. I ordered the memory upgrade direct from Crucial.com. The unit works great. And I bought the blue one which looks very distinctive. I chose to buy the cheapest external CD drive (which was not very portable, but I wasn't seeking portability in the CD drive). I installed Office 2007, some other writing tools and I'm all set up. It surfs the Internet pretty fast (did not notice any degradation). The price is right, the size is right and the configuration is right (160GB and XP). Order Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

This is a nice little machine. Keeping in mind that it is more for email and Internet usage, I find that this machine has enough horsepower to do everything I need, including running Office 2007 with acceptable performance. It's definitely not a gaming machine, but it would be very good to take to college and stuff. The first one I got had something wrong with it. But when I went to return it through Amazon, they offered an exchange for no cost and I got it within a day. The replacement has been flawless.

Things I suggest, upgrade the RAM to 2GB and invest in either an external optical (CD or DVD) drive. Personally, I have other computers that I can use to copy installation files over the network or to USB sticks. Some folks might find that to be an issue.

Something I think Samsung could do to improve this is to pre-load this with XP Pro, instead of Home. I'm sure that's some OEM thing with Microsoft. Also, if they would throw in a SSD rather than a spinning disk the already excellent battery life would be even better.

If I knew anyone in the market for one a netbook, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Samsung NC10. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I've had the opportunity in the past to test or beta test various netbooks including versions from Lenovo (S-10), Acer (Aspire One), Via (an absolutely awful netbook I prefer not to remember), CTI Classmate (now discontinued), the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) and Westinghouse Mesa (another one I'll forget at this point).

Most came with Windows XP although a couple came with Linux variations; however, OS aside, the Samsung NC-10 is on top of them all for various reasons.

In the past couple weeks of usage I've found the following to be positive traits:

* Standard 6 cell power source means insane battery life. Even using Wi-Fi and having several memory hungry programs running, the worst I could do was five hours and I came dangerously close to seven hours at least one time.
* Better than standard keyboard for a netbook. 93% of normal notebook size and it shows in ease of use. I've had some netbooks, such as the CTI, that insisted on double and triple mapping keys to the point of total confusion but not the Samsung. Finally, a full size shift key!
* About 3 pounds total weight with another half pound for the power pack.
* Decent webcam built into the screen bezel. Nothing special, but not bad.
* Lock on wireless. I've tested some netbooks that couldn't find a signal if you sat on the router, but this Samsung does well and once locked on it won't give up. Overall signal reception was no better or worse than most notebooks.
* Minimal heat for such a small device. Some of the units mentioned above could get really hot very quickly but Samsung seems to have heat dispersion down. You do get the usual heat spray from the fan (which is quieter than most) but it's acceptable and isn't a lap cooker.
* Decent boot times but this is a somewhat cloudy issue. Without virus or firewall installed, 30 seconds is a good figure. Double that if you add the above mentioned safeguard programs (many reviewers fail to mention this).
* Minimal amount of Bloatware with the exception of the ubiquitous Norton protection program. Fortunately, this version of Norton wasn't installed but a desktop icon was available should I choose to install it. Guess what got deleted first?
* Sturdy construction with nary a creak or moan and not much case flex. The usual smooth plastic found in netbooks. Mine is Gloss Blue (hence the GB in the description from Samsung) which does its best to pick up fingerprints but also looks better than the standard black.
* The screen pivots back more than most. I've seen some models that stop with the screen straight up resulting in a strained viewing experience.
* Nice screen quality with a matte finish. This matters if you don't like screen glare and especially great if you don't like looking at reflection of yourself every time you boot or attempt to view a page with reflecting light in the background.
* Easy access RAM panel to upgrade from the standard 1 GB chip (although it's strictly a one "chipper"). Manual states 2 GB is the max but it accepted my 4 GB chip (but only read 2).
* 3 USB ports instead of the usual 2.
* Curiously, the Samsung seemed to load web pages quicker than other models although it has the standard Atom 1.6 GHz processor. My MSN homepage has been known to choke even some notebooks but the Samsung rendered the page in quick time. I've read some reviews that state the chip is being over clocked, but I couldn't verify such and seriously doubt Samsung would risk cooking a chip in that fashion (my own CPU monitoring program showed the chip running from 800 MHz at the low end to 1.6 GHz when pushed - all within normal range).
* Onboard diagnostic programs thanks to Samsung. Other than the Lenovo, most netbook manufacturers couldn't care less what happens after your buy it and getting updates for most is largely a matter of luck and knowing where to look.

Of course, not everything is perfect and the Samsung is no exception:

* Changing RAM is easy; changing the hard drive requires dismantling the case and voiding the warranty. I upgraded to a 320 GB 7,200 RPM 2.5 inch hard drive and installation was a breeze once you remove about 12 case screws and gently fudge the cover off. It took about 30 minutes to remove the screws and case with a scant 2 minutes necessary to physically change the drive!
* Trackpad, what trackpad? Oh, you mean that 1 x 2 inch doo-hickey at the bottom? Too small to be of much use, but I use a wireless mouse anyway. Some complain about the mouse button (which is a rocker switch instead of the usual 2 button affair) but I had no problem with that.
* Power switch is on the side of the screen pivot mechanism. Originally I thought this was neat until I inadvertently turned the machine on pushing it into a bag. Best left somewhere on the keyboard (in all fairness, some concessions had to be made for the large keys).
* Built in card reader is the usual affair but the cards stick out and that can be an accident waiting to happen since it's on the front of the computer instead of the side. I sometimes use a tilting computer table and the card sticking out keeps the computer from being flush with the table lip.
* It'll run the usual business oriented programs such as Word, but don't get adventurous and attempt PhotoShop anytime soon. The graphics card is limited. Forget graphics-intensive games, too.
* The usual tinny sounding speakers, but what did you expect?
* No express card slot for those of you who use cellular wireless. Guess you'll have to use that flimsy USB dongle.
* I understand the description from Samsung has resulted in some confusion and lost sales. The actual title of mine is Samsung NC-10 14GB with the GB meaning "Gloss Blue". Unfortunately, some read this as meaning the computer has a 14GB hard drive and they look elsewhere. At some websites the GB version is lower priced than the GW (Gloss White) because of this.

Overall, a very good netbook with minimal complaints. In addition, prices are starting to drop on all netbooks and the Samsung is no exception. These originally tipped the scales at $500+ but can now be had for less than $400 at quite a few retailers.

By the way, I got the opportunity to run Windows 7 Beta on my unit and, yes, it did work, to an extent. I had to download drivers from Samsung but, oddly enough, the XP drivers for the wireless did work although the camera wouldn't (I had to download a generic camera activator program). Was it any quicker? Not to boot, but it was quicker to load programs once booted and the browser did seem quicker.

Buying Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

The keyboard and monitor are superb, and it is so light-weight. The speed and memory are what I am used to in my HP desktop and Sony Vaio laptop. I bought this NC10 based on the glowing online reviews, and it has everything I hoped for.

Just be careful when you boot it for the first time. I clicked YES when I thought it was asking me if I wanted to create a backup (I was thinking of the Restore function). It was really asking me if I wanted to partition the hard drive, so I now have C and D drives. I am using D for memory-hogging photos and videos, and C for the installed programs.

I added a bluetooth mouse and connected a USB 2.0 booster with delightful results. The chubby booster got in the way of my mouse, so I put the booster on an extension cable. That has the added benefit of letting me move the booster around and increasing the wireless signal.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheapest Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I received the Samsung nc10 about 3 weeks ago. This is not a tech review. I'm a 60+ woman who is just barely able to keep up with all the new things one needs to learn in today's world. Having never set up my own computer, I had this out of the box and working within a half hour. And, it hasn't diappointed in any way. It's fast, has an easy to see screen in a brightly lit room, a keyboard that is almost as comfortable as a full size, and a battery that lasts three days with the kind of use I give it. I ordered a wireless mouse with it, but have learned to use the touchpad which has zoom, scroll and tap features that make it very easy to use. I really appreciate all the reviews from other users. Lowest Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

My Sammy NC10 from Amazon arrived on December 24, 2008. I purchased an external optical DVD-R, CD-R drive also from Amazon for $95. I used the external drive to install MS Office 2000, Microsoft Money 2004, Publisher, and many others. I love the Windows XP operating system, bright screen, fast response times, and WONDERFUL KEYPAD. I'm a touch typist and prone to verbosity so I need a keypad I can type like a maniac on, and this one fits the bill. I used it with 1 GB RAM for awhile. The computer was totally zippy with 1 GB RAM for what I was using it for (Excel spreadsheets, internet, MS Money, etc).

I wanted to install Adobe CS4, and one of the minimum system requirements listed for CS4 is 2 GB RAM. (Another of the minimum requirements is 2.0 Ghz processor, which the NC10 does not have, but whatchagonnado.) I purchased 2 GB RAM from crucial.com for about $20. After sticking the 2.0 GHZ RAM in (that was totally easy), I installed the Adobe CS4 Design Premium (including Dreamweaver, InDesign, Illustrator, etc!) Suite using my external hard drive. I got an error because the NC10's screen resolution is not enough for it. But I went head and continued with the installation anyway. And it was successful! I was able to use the CS4 applications without any problems in terms of speed and processing. However, in some screens, you can't really see the whole thing that you're supposed to see, and there's not a way to scroll up or down to see the whole thing, because Adobe CS4 really expects you to have more vertical than what the NC10 has got.

I also noticed the height limitations on some web sites. For example, when I'm using gmail, I use labels to organize the various types of messages coming in for the different sections of a newsletter that I edit. Well, sometimes I can't see the entire drop-down list showing the various labels. And there's no scroll bar because apparently gmail has a setting that if the list is X number of items or shorter, no scroll bar is needed. Another web site where I encountered this is smugmug (photo galleries). Sometimes I get frustrated because the I can't see enough of the drop-down list.

Another thing about the height of the laptop. When you hook it up to a VGA monitor for giving presentations, the height-stunted dimensions are noticeable. For example, if you want to show the web pages that you're browsing .... well, the presentation will just show a portion of those web pages (same as on your NC10 screen), you won't get to see as much of them as you would if you were using a computer with regular-height screen (or more specifically, if you were using a computer with a higher vertical vs. horizontal resolution). When I noticed that, it made me wish this computer had an option of a resolution with the more traditional height to width ratio.

I wonder why they couldn't add the 1280 x 800 resolution to the NC10?

Oh, and some people complain about the track pad. I LOVE THE TRACK PAD. The little scrolly part on the right side is very helpful. And you can even use gestures like pinching to zoom in or zoom out of the pages. If you don't like the track pad, try looking up Samsung's gestures and see if that makes it better.

I have the white version and I love the way it looks. No fingerprints for me, although ... I left the thin plastic covering on the screen as well as the outside of the computer! (Weird, I know ... like plastic slip-covers in an old lady's house! I figured I'd just leave them there until they fell off, but after 4+ months, they are still firmly attached. Fine, I guess it protects the computer and wards off fingerprints anyway.) Actually, the inside of the computer has a matte finish, which I found very nice. So if there are any glossy fingerprints-attracting surfaces, they might be on the outside.

Although the NC10 generally runs cool, I HAVE noticed it being hot .... but in those instances, I remembered ... hey, I HAVE been using this thing for like 12 hours non-stop! (I admit, sometimes I stay in bed for 12 hours straight, working with the Sammy NC10 on my lap, my head supported by pillows. Decadent, I know! What a life!)

One thing I didn't like about the NC10 was that it feels very dense. Like a rock. Even though it's lightweight compared to other laptops, and it fits in a larger size purse ... it will make that purse feel very heavy if you carry it around for awhile.

One GREAT THING about the NC10 is the wireless connectivity. I can go to places in my house where my other laptop gets a "weak" signal, and instead my samsung picks up a strong signal. Thank goodness! It is a netbook after all.

I have really enjoyed my NC10. It feels very well-made. Whenever people see me with it, they are very impressed. It is very sturdy, compact, and useful. Oh, and the battery life ... yeah, I tend to get maybe 4 or 5 hours, but I am using wireless internet all the time, and I like to keep the screen brighter. I'm not down with the super-dimmed screen!

That being said .... I actually have now given my computer away for my mom to use. I purchased the Samsung X460-44G 14.1-Inch Laptop (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 Centrino 2 Processor, 3 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, Vista Business) when it was on sale here at Amazon ($899 after $300 mail-in rebate). The 2.0 GHZ processor is faster, which is good, but my main reasons to change were the larger screen and the higher resolution of 1280 x 800. I did a lot of desktop publishing on the NC10 in the first 4 months I had it, but with all the zooming in and out and scrolling required for laying out newsletter sheets, etc, I finally admitted I needed something a little bigger. I'm bummed that the x460's resolution is only 1280 x 800 (same as the NC20 which only has a 12.1-inch screen! WTF), but at least it's better than what I had with the NC10. And I'm hoping the 2.0 GHz processor and built-in optical drive will make things better as well .... although the NC10 was actually plenty fast enough, and I didn't mind using the external drive. Really it was such a screen size issue.

And now ... whenever Amazon starts carrying the new NC20 with 12.1-inch screen and 1280 x 800 resolution, things will really start to get interesting around here! (Newegg.com has it already!)
