I got this so I could take notes in class and access library call numbers. The idea is that I can carry it around with me and find the books with it in one hand. OK, it works great for that. BUT Wait! There's more. At 10 inches diagonally, it is a lot easier to see than the 7 inch rivals. The keyboard is large enough and well-enough configured that I can type on it with ease. The touchpad is a little narrow top to bottom but nothing that couldm't be overcome with a little practice. SOOO, my tiny carry-around has become the main computer that I am doing my graduate papers on. That includes a lot of fiddly flowcharts that I have to custom-create, using MS drawing utilities. This is especially important to me in that I have had real pain problems with my 62-year-old arthritic wrists with some larger keyboards. So far, about 3 full days of typing into it--no problem with this keyboard! Note: I already owned an external DVD drive, so I could install MS Office. I also downloaded Open Office, so you could get some reasonable free functionality without an external DVD player, but I recommend having one for utility. I recommend the cheaper white with black lettering on the keys--easier to see. Did I mention that it was also cheaper than black or red? You can buy some lower-cost netbooks, but this one is a solid choice that I am glad I made. Excuse me. . .I am going to go continue watching Gundam Wing on my NC10 with external DVD.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheapest Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I did extensive web research before purchasing this laptop; while these seem a bit less common than their MSI and Asus brethren, the reviews were uniformly positive. The features that I was most interested in were long battery life, great keyboard, built-in bluetooth (I wanted to use my Microsoft wireless presenter mouse), and Windows 7 compatibility. After a few weeks of use, I am completely satisfied with the choice. It is a solid feeling little box, and the keyboard is better than most full-size laptops. The Windows 7 beta works great on it - battery life only a little less than with XP and performance at least as good as with XP. The display quality is excellent. I was initially concerned that the touch pad is rather small, but in practice that really doesn't seem to be a problem - I have no problem using it, although in general due to habit I prefer to use an external mouse, which thanks to the builtin bluetooth also works great. I have been a laptop user since about 1983, so have gone through quite a few of them, large and small, over the years. I am surprised in how little one really has to give up for this small package - obviously you're not going to do much 3d rendering on it, but for basic office work type stuff (authoring, web browsing, email, etc.) it is quite capable and more than sufficient for almost everything I do, and it sure is a delight to carry around. I usually don't even bother to lug the power supply (which itself is light and compact), since the battery life is so good. I would definitely buy it again if I had it to do over. Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I'm a web developer; at work I constantly view work on Win2000, Win XP, and OSX, and use OSX at home. I also teach a web development class and didn't want to carry my loaded MacBook around for the class. So after almost getting an aluminum HP2140, I instead got the NC10. The main reasons: higher screen resolution, much better battery life, good sized keyboard, generous hard drive, and a decent amount of RAM, all standard in the *base* model for about $450.
The reviews also said that the build quality was impressive, and that the online support was well-executed, so I took the jump, though as a rule I never buy from companies new to a product category.
Everything's as was said; the system runs very well, quietly, and not hot. And not loaded with crapware to remove. It also seems that the engineers built in a good backup/restore capability, so that Windows and all necessary drivers are easy to restore whenever needed.
Bonuses:
1) It's not bad on the eyes at all. The blue is dark enough to be fine for a professional setting, yet different enough to be interesting; really pretty nice for a Windows box.
2) The little slipcase is nice - prevents it from being scratched when tossed in a shoulder bag.
3) nice amount of ports: 3 USB, SD card, ethernet, VGA out.
4) Bright, sharp screen. (Maybe because Samsung makes TVs)
5) relatively small, 2-prong power supply
To consider:
1) the HDD is partitioned so that half is for the auto backup function. But realistically, I find the 80 usable Gb more than enough.
2) trackpad is indeed small, so I often use a small mouse.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I did all the research. Started with Cnet, which curiously does not review the Samsung NC-10 well. But after reading the reviews on Amazon and personally checking out the Dell Mini9 and HP Mini netbooks, I bougt the NC-10 sign unseen (I actually bought the pink and the white to compare...unaware Amazon would charge me a $60 restocking fee--ouch!) Its been a month and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The other reviewers were right... go for the big keyboard.. its what you use most. The keyboard is great and easy to use... the mouse is weirdly sensitive at times which is my only complaint. All in all, this had all the features I was looking for at a great price: cool color (pink), built in camera, long battery life, big keyboard, small and lightweight. I wish it had built in mobile broadband, but that is easy enough to add. Get this computer... you wont be sorry..Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Being said that you also don't need to buy the very expensive ones because this will do it for you. Quality! Baby! Well done! I made the right decision in my purchase. First off let me say that I loved the machine, if you use a seperate mouse then this is by far the best of the netbooks avail. today. I travel alot so using the NC10 while on a plane is tough w/o a seperate mouse. I am totally at a lost why Samsung installed such bad software/hardware on a PC that was designed so well.
Returned the unit and going back to my wife's 1000H until they improve it.

As a college student with a full courseload, I find this laptop fits my needs well: thoughtful and intuitive design, overall great usability / portability. I've heard a lot of arguments against the "underpowered" netbooks, but I find that with this and a desktop that I'm building, I'll have the best of both worlds -- power and performance where I need it (nerdy gaming at home) and portability for everything else. (All for cheaper than a 15" laptop compromise!)
I've actually been able to significantly cut down on my paper usage as well as back strain by keeping everything that I would normally put in my binder (notes, handouts, etc) on here and recycling the originals (I'm even considering scanning portions of my textbooks, but that's just my OCD acting up). Some things I've done:
1. Cut down the size of start menu / icons to save screen space
2. Started using Opera with the "standard slim" skin, which takes up signitifcantly less vertical space than firefox
3. tweaked trackpad settings & purchased a microsoft arc mouse
4. Got a portable DVD player sleeve that fits it perfectly (Belkin)
My only complaint is the speaker quality -- pretty bad, not very loud, but it's only a problem when I want to watch movies with someone else. I'll be using earphones or speakers with this.
As far as in-class use goes, I've found that it fits nicely on the ridiculously small pseudo-desks we have (although not enough space for the mouse) and typing is not obnoxiously loud. It's pretty snappy out of standby / hibernation, which is also a plus. It fits in my lap comfortably and I've had no problems staring at the small screen for hours writing a paper. Also, the fn commands are extremely useful and easy to understand. I regularly use these to adjust brightness, volume, check battery power, use standby, etc. I also like the relatively minimalist design of the white model -- I don't feel so ostentatious whipping this out during class. Battery life is as described.
The concerns I had before purchasing this have been absolved, and I'm glad I didn't wait for the slightly larger (and more expensive) nc20.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Decide Now
I've had this machine for about 6 weeks now and have an unholy love for it. It does exactly what it is designed to do and does it well.
One of the major complaints with netbooks, in general, is funky keyboard layout and size. I have small hands and am a touch-typist and adapted easily from a split ergonomic keyboard to this one. The right shift key is in the correct position, which makes up for it being a bit on the small side. If you are a touch-typist with large hands, this may not be the machine for you.
Of course, with portability, you do have to sacrifice a bit of real estate on the screen. Even though it doesn't sound like the screen is that much bigger than the 8.9" netbooks, functionally, it is. While online, F11 will become your friend. Lengthwise photos on websites may be a bit cropped, but this hasn't been a problem for me.
I am not a fan of touchpads. I have a mouse that I usually use, however, the touchpad has worked fine for me. The only time it's been touchy is when the battery is dying.
As far as functional abilities, I have been able to download itunes while on another site. Connection speed seems to be more of an issue than the processor, especially when roaming with my Verizon wireless internet. It does bog down a bit if there are too many windows open or apps running, though. Since this is not a work machine, it hasn't bothered me. The large hard drive makes it great for storing and previewing photos on the go - great for vacation. I have Microsoft Office 2003 loaded on and the machine handles it well. The battery life is also good - I can reliably get 6 hours out of it, closer to 4 if I am running my USB DVD drive. It also recharges quite quickly and is Energy Star rated.
The fit and finish are good. The matte screen finish makes it easier to read. It is smaller and lighter than most textbooks. I carry this computer with me everywhere I go. If I was a student, I would definitely use this for taking notes in class.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Order Now
I've had my Sammy for three months now. I upgraded to 2gb ram, and have XP Home and Windows 7 dual booted. It runs Windows 7 really, really nicely. In fact, I get better battery
econmy with & than with XP.
There's so much to like about this little netbook. It's fast and agile (I'm running Photoshop CS on it with no problems). I read books on it, shop, download and enjoy music and movies, and do my banking. It's really convenient if I'm reading a book and need some insight or watching a movie and want to know what I've seen that actor in before.
I had a little trouble with the Synaptic touchpad's scrolling feature, so I disabled it.
It's pretty near perfect for what I want in a convenient little computer.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that the speakers leave a little to be desired. Surely they could've placed them to project forward instead of down, and they could've used a little better hardware for the price.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality
I shopped long and hard for a netbook and came very close to overlooking this one, so happy I discovered it in the knick of time and decided to go with it. Here's what I love about it:
- Solidly built, nice big clicky keyboard, bright, easy to read screen with sufficient resolution, nice overall layout and design.
- Light as a feather and small enough footprint to slip easily into my purse and take anywhere without effort or even having to remove things from my (admittedly rather large) purse to fit it.
- It's purty (shiny blue).
- Gobs of battery life, usually nearly 7 hours. I can *almost* go to work without my power supply. Great to not have to be looking for a plug after one short session on the go. I even like the ridge on the 6 cell battery that makes it easier to pick up the unit and grip it securely.
- Quiet as a whisper - I can work in bed with this thing and my spouse sleeps soundly without the constant loud fan of my old Dell kicking on.
- Cool as a cucumber. This baby just does not heat up like every other laptop I've ever owned, some of which you could easily fry an egg on (or your thighs).
- Just the right ports - 3 USB, video out (which I use at work so I can work on my 22 inch flat screen at high res), photo card slot for easy picture access, speakers, mic, headphone jack, security cable connector, 10/100 network, bluetooth, 802.11 wireless - only thing missing is cellular wireless but you can get it on USB units now if you must have it.
- *Very* small power block - smallest I've ever seen and also stays nice and cool even when charging. Quite easy to fit in the the bag with the unit and not even miss the space it takes up.
- Fast start up and shut down. My bloated Dell used to take nearly 7 minutes to start and load all my startup programs. My new motto is strip it down and store everything possible on the cloud. This gizmo makes it easy.
The ONLY thing I can think of that I'd love this unit to have is an option for a track button rather than a touchpad. I am one of those tiny percentage of old Thinkpad users who loves the track button but even Lenovo is starting to abandon them these days. A shame since it can be mastered with just a bit of practice and once you have the hang of it, it is so much easier to switch from typing to mouse movements without having to move both hands each time. But as trackpads go, the NC10's works fine, thought it's a little bit too small and the button is a bit hard to find by touch (maybe a little added ridge would help). I kind of like that left/right click are just different ends of the same big button though I can't really articulate why!
Anyway, money well spent folks and worth the little extra over some of its competitors which are much more poorly made and designed overall. Samsung is the first to put it all together and really get the netbook right. If you buy this you won't be sorry.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I bought this computer for web and email while on the road. I am totally pleased with my purchase and would recommend it for everyone who needs a small work computer for the road.
I've upgraded the memory to 2G and added an office program and several other small office solutions programs. The speed and comfort of running several programs at once is great, no problems at all. The battery life is beyond anything I've experienced, a good 6+ hours. The connectivity options are super and I've used them all without a hitch. The key board actually fits my hands better than the standard, and I haven't yet had any problems with typing.
I love the 10" screen and the resolution qualities are super, along with the easy controls. Taking this thru security at many airports is a breeze, as it fits nicely in my backpack. Compared to the 14" that I use to carry the Samsung is a dream come true.
I agree you won't like this computer if you load it up with High demand video or picture programs, but to go and download videos and pics, this is a great computer.

I bought the white one, and it looks real clean. It looks expensive, does basic tasks well, and is affordable. The only thing wrong with it, is not even worth mentioning, but now you're going to wonder what I'm talking about, so I'll mention it. I don't like the label "digital motion camera" for the camera on the top of the screen, and the labels for the ports are not necessary. Battery life is 6 hours using WI-FI and web browsing. After dealing with the HP 1010NR and its meager 8GB hard drive I started checking out the reviews on Amazon for netbooks and was amazed by the amount of positives for this one. I bought one and now I know why. This is an amazing little computer. From the much larger screen size to the addition of Bluetooth and the ample 160GB hard drive, and the wonderful battery life (i'm averaging 6.5 hours on one charge so far...) this one puts most other netbooks in the dust. I thought long and hard between this one and the Asus HE but I have a Samsung HDTV and the T260HD Monitor and I love them both so I went with this and I am very glad I did. One other pleasant thing was how easy this was to network when I had room to install Windows 7 on it and networked it with our main computer. I had to input one code and it works like a dream! I dont do tech speak so you will probably get more out of other reviews but just suffice it to say that you will love this if you spend just the little bit extra. And oh, NEVER buy HP. If the junk they sell isnt bad enough, their customer service is the worst in the business. Buy Samsung, Dell or something else and enjoy life! Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review
I bought this so that I could carry it around without feels like you're carrying your normal 2.2kg laptop. I used it to run simple model, view heavy loads of GIS without doing any analysis, internet browsing etc. I am pleased with the performance. Bear in mind this is not like dual core processor or something in the same level so it takes sometimes to upload huge excel file or word document but all in all, this is just the right size and right "speed" for the price as it is so light and so easy to read journals or emails or whatever you want to do within your spare times. I did not use my NC10 for my main works, I still love my Vaio for the heavy duty stuff but NC10 helps me doing something useful in between classes. I could quickly access my emails, or browse through something to prep before class. The 6 cell batteries works fine. I never ran out of batteries so far. I mean I always open up more than one operation like open Words, several tabs in Firefox, transfer some file at the same time, I am happy with the performance. Of course if I compare it with Vaio full laptop it would never match in terms of the material and speed but for the $450, I guess it nailed it. I'm a really happy camper! I was thinking that I needed to spend upwards of $1500 to get an ultraportable that could go 'round the world with me, and here I find bliss in a netbook! Saved me over $1000 and is easier than anything to use. I'm not the brightest penny in the computer purse, but this gadget makes me feel like a genius. I'm going to upgrade the memory and hard drive, as a few others have done, since I can totally see this "pearl" will not be far from my reach. I do NLP Training's and Lectures all over the planet, and this will allow me access to my PowerPoint presentations (when I install Windows XP office and I'll let you know how that goes) and connect my projector. I'm certain that I'll require external juice for the Samsung to run the projection, but I'll do an update on that, too. Anyone already doing these things, please let me know! I couldn't figure out how to inlarge the screen by spreading my fingers on the touch pad, but then it did it...still don't know how, and if I'll be able to do it at will, but...it works, in any case.
I can, freely, recommend this Samsung NC10!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I ordered my Samsung with ease from Amazon that had it the least expensive and in stock (BLUE). I love it! I love that I got to start playing with it earlier than I would have had I ordered it somewhere else since nobody else had the Blue in stock.

After using this netbook daily for a month now, I can say that I really enjoy it. Unlike my other laptops, I feel free to move around the house and use it wherever I want; it's like carrying a small book around. Other laptops are just too heavy and big to do this and, at least the HP and dell's I've used, always needed to be plugged in because the batteries never last long enough. I like how fast this netbook boots up (~40 seconds) and shuts down (~15 seconds), unlike all the other computers in my life that take forever. (I did go to a samsung netbook user group and change some setting like they recommended to speedup the start/stop times). The Atom processor works like a charm in this setup; forgot those hot running dual core-whatever chips. The fan rarely comes on and I rarely even feel some warmth from the bottom of the netbook. This is how computers should be. Although I don't run graphics, cad/cam, or other complicated software, but who does. For websurfing, this is it. This computer seems faster than my desktop 3ghz pentium. Why is that?? Screen looks great with backlighting; keyboard is fine; touchpad is small but I haven't found the need to add a mouse. Speakers are minimally functional. I may need to buy another netbook for my wife so she can stop using the brick-like Dell laptop with the noisy fans - although it does keep her warm in the winter, once she finally gets it to bootup. Bottom line: buy it and enjoy.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I work during the day and go to school at night. My job requires 24hr remote access and I quickly tired of carrying around a 15" laptop along with my books. The first netbooks I came across piqued my interest but had received dismal reviews from fellow students. I'm so happy I waited for the Samsung NC10 and am fully satisfied!! I immediately upgraded to 2GB of RAM and installation was super easy. The screen is crisp and clear, and WIFI connection works flawlessy. It even picked up signal from a location where my full-size laptop cannot. I downloaded Cisco VPN and am able to remote into my work network faster than with my laptop. I was also able to download office from the Microsoft website without incident. Battery life is great and I can leave my charger at home. The keyboard is nearly full-size with all the keys in the right place - took zero time to adjust.
Overall, the Samsung NC10 is a fast, hard-working machine wrapped in a sleek, light-weight, package. The pink is softer than it appears in pictures and keeps it from looking cartoonish (prefer this shade over my pink Dell). I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for an alternative to carrying around a bulky laptop!!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Where To Buy Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
After exhaustive research on this site, youtube, and other sites, I decided on the Samsung NC10 in white. One essential piece of information is that the Acer Aspire One is only 2.3 lbs with the original 3-cell battery: any machine with a 6-cell is going to weigh just short of 3 lbs. The Vaio P series is the only comparable machine that's significantly lighter, and everything I read suggested it wasn't as nimble or capacious as any of these netbooks, and it's nearly 4 times the price.
So I bought it, and I've had it for a few weeks now. Here's what I've experienced so far:
Pros:
Fun, clicky keyboard
Phenomenal battery life
Decent processor speed - websites load relatively quickly
Very easy to upgrade memory to 2gb
Excellent hard drive size
Excellent connectivity - picks up all signals in range
Lightweight and compact
Built-in camera for Skype and other webcam programs
Built-in Bluetooth (though I haven't figured out how to make use of it yet)
Cons:
Screen is adequate color- and brightness-wise, but not brilliant
Mousepad is fussy - surface is not extremely responsive, and a weird icon keeps popping up that I still haven't figured out (looks like a little purple whorl)
VGA port does not have screw holes (it just plugs in with the pins), so when I was unsuccessful in connecting an external monitor, I couldn't tell if it was the connection that was problematic, or the monitor.
It does exactly what I bought it to do: it's a lightweight (though not featherweight), small netbook that lasts me all day when I'm at work. I was able to load Microsoft Office through a USB-connected CD drive that I own as part of another laptop package, but if I hadn't had that I'd have tried openoffice.com.
I love the white - it kind of feels like I'm using a tiny Mac - and the chassis feels very solid and well-built. Even though it's small, I'm finding I prefer using this computer to either my desktop or my bigger laptop, but that may partly be because I have very small hands. I honestly don't know what would make me like it more than I do except maybe a screen with higher resolution and the whole package in under 2 lbs, but I have a hunch that won't be available for quite a few more years. In the meantime, it's a great little machine for an incredibly decent price. Hope this helps! Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Buy Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I have never owned a laptop, let alone a netbook, so the Samsung NC-10 was a whole new computing experience for me. And while I have more than just a few years of experience with personal computers, including my early years with Apple - my company made a decision years ago to go with PC's and not Apple - transitioning over to a netbook had me more than a little scared. I am a touch typist, maybe not a very good one but one nevertheless, and I wondered how difficult it would be to get use to the Samsung keyboard; in a word "easy." The keys have a great feel, and in some ways the closeness of the keys to one another actually seem to work better than a standard keyboard.
Okay, the keyboard worked out very well; now the touchpad, keeping in mind I didn't have any real history with touchpads, my experience can best be described as a bull in a China Shop - if the thing was an airplane, I couldn't taxi, let alone fly the darn thing. I read some reviews that said to decrease the size of the reserved space for auto-scrolling and that helped to a degree, but the real solution was the purchase of Microsoft's Explorer Mini Mouse with blue laser; now I can navigate almost any web page, spreadsheet or Word document at warp speed -problem solved for 39 dollars.
Next I upgraded the memory to 2 Gig, which was pretty easy, but here is a hint for people like me that don't know too much about replacing computer memory components: there is one screw that is removed to gain access to the memory card; then you have to gently push out the plastic retaining clips that hold the card in place. Once released the card will pop upward at about a 45 degree angle; simply align the card with the connection slots and gently pull out - reverse the process for the installation of the 2 Gig card.
The next thing I got the NC-10 14 was the Targus external DVD/CD Rom drive that is powered through the USB ports on the netbook; here is another helpful hint, you need to plug in both USB connectors to provide the external drive with adequate power. One of the USB connectors has a pass-through that allows another USB device to connect to the port, such as a camera or IPOD.
Overall the performance of the NC-10 has been excellent. It executes programs and connects to my wireless network faster than my Dell PC's. I have also linked it to my cell phone through the Blue tooth connection, and I guess that I could use the available modem if I ever were in a place that only had cellular service. The one last item is that I have finally started to use the function keys, such as screen brightness, battery life remaining, full screen view, volume control, etc.
Well, hopefully I added something to your selection process that was useful - I will end by saying that I am very happy with the NC-10 14, and the only thing that I would change is that I would have bought the special edition that is now available. Buying Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I ordered this on Saturday morning, had it by Monday afternoon. I've barely put it down in the 5 hours that I've had it. It has by far surpassed my expectations for it. I'm still waiting for the arrival of the 2GB memory upgrade (ordered elsewhere for a better price), so it is still a little bit slow. The keyboard is wonderful to type on. Although other reviewers (look under the different colors for them) complain of the small trackpad, I haven't had a problem with it. Sure, it's very small, but for somebody with very small hands, it works fine.
I've played with the built in camera a bit, and I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of the image. The last webcam I had, which was pretty recently, and one that was on the more expensive side, wasn't nearly as nice of an image as this one.
Overall, I would recommend this netbook to anybody who is looking for a supplemental computer (although with 160GB hard drive, and 2GB of memory after upgrade, it's perfectly capable of functioning as an everyday, minus the cd drive).
Excellent value for the price!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Cheapest Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
First off, I was very skeptical about intel atom processor because I've heard from people that it isn't comparable to core 2 duo we are most familiar with. I've had sony vaio CR320, which was core 2 duo 2.0 ghz with 3 gb ram. It was pretty fast and satisfying to use until I figured out that my back silently was screaming and complaining that it was too heavy even at 5lbs. I never even like the netbook people started to carry around on campus, but as soon as one of my colleague tutor brought it in, I was amazed by the size and it didn't look like a little, cheap toy like asus or acer one. It was small, but it had a elegant and expensive look to it.
I asked her if I can try it out and I immediately like it. The screen size looked too small at first sight, but after a while, it wasn't that bad. I didn't like the xp, but I figured it would be easy to install vista on it.
So, I came home with high anticipation and researched about nc10 and there were a lot of great reviews and also read that people successfully installed vista on it and have seen great benchmarks on it which was better than what they got with windows xp on it. I immediately ordered it from amazon using 2 x $25 certificate I had and paid $420 out of the pocket.
As soon as I got it, I installed 2gb ram, which was a breeze and installed vista ultimate on it. It only took 25 minutes to install. So far, I do not have any complaints about the machine at all. The keyboards are just perfect for typing and the look of the machine is so ideal. People ask me how much I had to paid for my "mac". I tell them it's not a mac!!!
I had no problem running multiple firefox windows with multiple tabs within them. I also tried out the CS4 photoshop and it worked flawlessly without any performance decrease.
Wireless G works like a charm. I get the full speed mark I used to get with my vaio laptop and am very satisfied with it. I have not had a chance to plug the ehternet cord to try out the speed. I didn't have a reason to try it out because the wifi is more than enough for casual surfing, itunes download, movie download.
If you need help installing correct drivers for windows vista, email me and I will direct you to the page that has the download links. The forum is called sammynetbook and they are very helpful. A lot of people there are dedicated to help new users with their questions and needs.
I know technology moves on fast, but as of now, nc10 seems to be the best choice for the 10.2 netbook league. I see a lot of posts about ASUS 1000HE and I also think it's a great netbook with a new processor(tiny bit faster) with longer battery life, but I just abominate the look of the asus laptops or netbooks.
BUY the nc10 and you will cherish it like a baby I am sure.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
This netbook is overall the ideal package. I was looking at Macbooks and couldn't justify the price. This is a second laptop for me as my older one is slowly dying and I want to bring a small one to work more frequently. The size is perfect for me. Fits into a small packback or tote bag easily and I don't usually bring the cord as the battery life is 6+ hours. The mouse pad is a little small but scrolls, zooms, and rotates like the macbooks do with the same movements. I read a lot of PDFs and documents like that without any problems. The webcam is cool. I didn't think I would use the bluetooth much but I have used it a few times to sync my blackberry and exchange programs and large files with coworkers. This computer is supposed to be for work and studying only, but I have tons of room for music and pics if my old laptop should finally crap out.
I didn't do a ton of shopping around but I think this is the nicest netbook I have seen so far at a great price. I really recommend it highly. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Save Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
After a few months of reading reviews about of all of the positives and negatives that come with netbooks, I decided that it was time to take the plunge and get the NC-10. This little bad boy is nice. Sleek, compact, fast and comfortable. The keyboard is absolutely perfect. All of your keys are there where they're supposed to be. It feels completely natural when you're typing. The screen is bright and crystal clear with keyboard buttons that let you adjust the brightness levels. The fan is extremely quiet and there is even a hot-key (shortcut) on your keyboard that lets you run it in silent mode (turns it off until it rises to a certain temperature) I've never had to use it because it's perfectly quiet by default. This netbook is very speedy, boot up times are great and you can significantly improve them by removing McAfee and installing another virus protection software (I recommend Nod32). Bluetooth is an added bonus. I haven't had any problems at all except for a slight adjustment to the small track pad. If you don't mind carrying around a small bluetooth mouse with you, you can do that as well. The track pad really works great once you get the hang of it, but there was a learning curve for me.
I couldn't believe how long the battery lasts on this machine. I watched the clock when I first started using it and counted down six and a half hours before it got to thirty minutes left, then I charged it back up. Keep in mind that I was using the laptop the whole time, when I wasn't on it I had downloads running, just to test how long it would last in use. I was worried about the screen size at first. I thought it would be too small and viewing websites would be a hassle. I thought wrong. The text isn't too small and it does not hurt your eyes at all. My vision isn't the greatest and I'm still able to view everything perfectly. A lot of people have recommended putting your browser in full screen mode to view things perfectly or hiding your start menu bar, but I've found it to be very nice the way it is. Can't forget to mention the webcam either. It's there if you ever need it and the picture quality is really good for 1.3 Megapixels. I've named her 'Sammy' (yeah, not very creative, I know). This netbook is a real eye catcher with the glossy black outside, simplistic 'SAMSUNG' logo on the front, nice shiny chrome trim around the outside and flashy blue LED lights on the front side. I'm glad I purchased this netbook, it was worth every penny! I just wish I would have gotten it sooner, now I can't live without it.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I had resisted the purchase of a netbook, but when I read the review of the Samsung NC-10 I simply had to have one. I found it to be everything I'd expected and more, what with its bright screen and tactile keyboard. The touchpad is rather small however, and not being a big fan of them anyway, I opted for a tiny USB mouse instead. The battery life is quite long, although it spends most of the time plugged into A/C current. I'm sure the 1 Gig of RAM would have been sufficient, but I added the 2 gig chip just because. Having traveled with a heavy 17" laptop in the past, the NC-10 will be a joy to transport!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Purchase Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I consider myself a laptop fanatic. I have owned 4 laptops in the last 5 years mainly giving the old ones away. Having said that I was wanting something ultraportable without having to pay the hefty price of the corporate computers. I mostly web surf, word process, and listen to music. Even then the Samsung NC10 is by far the best small computer overall. Most of the other netbooks appear to be designed for kids or students. The NC10 has the BEST keyboard even compared to regular laptops. Typing is easy and fast and the keys are nearly normal size (93%). Don't underestimate the importance of this. The track pad was small at first but I've gotten used to it. It is really versatile allowing you to scroll left/right and up/down. In addition the standard driver allows you to zoom or shrink the screen with easy handstrokes so you can adjust you view of whatever your working on. The battery life is 5.5 to 6 hours on the standard battery, enough for almost anything your going to do. Upgrading RAM is easy with an easy access compartment. It is one of the more expensive netbooks $450-500. However, the extra money is really worth in terms of quality, usability and upgradability. So if your not a student and can afford the extra money, the Samsung NC10 is really the best. Great webcam, great sound card, okay speakers, but sounds excellent with headphones. Doesn't get hot and makes almost no noise at all. I never hear the harddrive or fan. Highly recommend as you can tell. Hope this helps your decision. Every tech. detail and serious consideration has been enumerated and explained several times in these reviews, so I am just putting my mark of approval on this netbook... I have been using mine for three weeks now and absolutely love it! Recently replaced the RAM with a 2GB card, and am loving it even more... The few negative aspects that have been brought up are valid points, but as far as I am concerned, are not nearly as severe in reality... If you want a sweet netbook, and don't mind dropping the extra cash, you really cannot go wrong with this bad-boy!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Low Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I bought the Samsung NC10 last week and so far it has been a neat little machine. Inspect the machine very closly. I had to return the first one because of damage to the hinge. It was hard to see but I think someone broke it and returned it as new. It also had marks where the battery slides in, but it was packed up really well. The second machine was perfect, nothing wrong and a great color.
I downloaded office and some other software for editing photos and so far everything has worked fine. Playing a DVD as we all know is not possiable without downloading a decoder as I found out. I bought the External LG slim DVD rewriter and installed the associated software. DVD's work just fine now.
One of the issues I'm running into is finding a wireless support network. I have no idea which is the best for coverage and speed.
The other issue is the machine does seem to produce some good heat where you place the hands when typing.
I also cant seem to adjust the screen resolution to higher then 1020x600.
Im still awaiting the 2G upgrade and will install that along with the 320 external hard drive for photos and movies.
All in all its worth the money, but make sure a netbook is what you need and want. If you need a full size laptop dont get this, you'll be disappointed. Fortunitly my home computer is grossly over sized in memeory and options so what i cant do on this I just move the file.
Four stars only because of the first bad machine. Who ever returned it the first time, "Shame on You" this should have been a five star review.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality
I'v had this netbook for two months now. Amazon is the best price around. fast service.
My NC10 has no "screen blotches" as reported with others. ran a video test to make sure. computer runs great, and a great battery life. installed a 2gb ram module. did it make it blazzing fast, of course not. but it did make a considerable differnce. tweeked win xp for more speed and installed a 320gb 7200rpm hard drive. this is a great little machine. surfing the web plenty fast, ipod or mp4 mov, runs great, photo editing with MS digital suite 10, plenty fast. Itunes plenty fast. great wireless reception. the only slow aspect is converting dvd to mp4 and vice versa, hey you can't have it all. great looks, decent processing. I also removed the Samsun logo on the cover its just plastic letters with adhesive, and place a laptop skin in its place. Like R. Hill, I upgraded my nc10 the day it arrived. Along with it, I ordered a 2GB SODIMM and a 320GB 7200RPM hard drive. I have been in computers and networking since the early 80s, so I have plenty of experience. Before computers, I was in electronics repair.
After unboxing and turning the nc10 on, I completed the Windows XP Home setup, giving the entire 160GB to the C: partition. I read that some reviewers had trouble with this, but I didn't have any. Before upgrading anything I wanted to be sure that everything was working out of the box.
After the initial setup, I was ready to upgrade. I used Apricorn's "DriveWire" to connect the 320GB drive to a USB port, and their EzGig II software to clone the original drive to the new drive, expanding the C: partition to 320GB in the process. After this, I disassembled the nc10 and installed the replacement hard drive and upgraded memory. The system booted without a hitch and I was able to upgrade XP Home to XP Pro in place.
This is an excellent buy for the price. I haven't run across anyhing that I haven't been able to run. It's not blazing fast, but a machine like this isn't supposed to be. I would recommend this to anyone needing a low cost, easy to carry laptop, but don't let your expectations exceed the hardware. If you're doing something like editing pictures (which I do occasionally), set the power mode for full performance. Yes, you'l use the battery faster, but your tasks will be done faster as well.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I looked at a few laptops online before deciding on this one. What won me over is the almost full size keyboard and battery life. I am extremely happy with this netbook. It is my take everywhere netbook around the house and weekend trips. After the first weekend, I had no problem parting with my regular sized laptop (15.4" screen) when taking off for the weekend. I have two teenage kids, and this a great size for taking notes in the car resting on a big text book. The other laptop would have been too big and difficult to work with in the car. Its sleep and hibernate function work great and it boots up from these states quickly and without a problem. I was hesitant on getting blue, hearing about finger prints and wondering if it was too "cheap" looking. But I'll have to say, I love the blue from the moment I got it. Yes, you'll see fingerprints - but not enough to even bother me at all. The only possible negative is the touch pad. It is hard to navigate using it when browsing the net. I tend to work in the dark, early morning hours and the scroll bar on the touchpad is almost impossible to find. However, given all the other positives about this netbook, it doesn't warrant giving this less than a 5 stars. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Decide Now
The first thing I noticed after opening the box was that the Samsung NC10 actually looks like a serious computer, and not a My-First-Laptop like some other netbooks. The smaller keyboard is taking some getting used to, but for the most part, this thing is great.
It comes out of hibernate in less than 10 seconds, has great battery life without an extended pack, runs most apps just as quickly as my desktop (granted, I haven't installed anything with a larger profile than OpenOffice yet), and has great wireless connectivity.
I'm sure most netbooks deliver the same practical features, but there's just something about the Samsung that feels more substantial than the others.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery This instant
I bought the Samsung for my wife and the Eee PC 1000HA for myself so I'll compare:
Summary: you can't go wrong with either one.
PROS: The Samsung has better style and a better battery. Also the keyboard is bigger and feels like it's better quality. Also the international warranty and more international name recognition is important for me. Obviously it wins for bluetooth also although you definitely pay for it. Less smudgy than the Asus.
CONS: I like the fact that the Asus keyboard is tilted towards you, makes typing more comfortable. Also the power cord on the Asus has an elbow plug, which makes it more space-efficient and comfortable. I like that the screen hinge on the Asus is stiffer, the Samsung feels like it's going to fly open or slam shut.
Bottom line, they're both great. As a do-over I would probably buy two Samsungs. But we'll see how the next generation turns out.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Where To Buy Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I realized I needed a new computer about a month ago and since I am a student a wanted a small one for easy portability. I was tempted by the new MacBooks, but a 1300 price tag drove me away. For a couple weeks I read up on the Dell Mini 9 reviews and the HP Mini 1000 reviews. I was all set to buy the Dell when all of a sudden I found that Samsung made one. I am SO glad I did! Not only did it win the Net-book of the year award for 2008, every review I read was at least four stars. (With the exception of the environmental crazies over the silver nano). I ordered mine on Tuesday and thanks to Amazon prime I got it Wednesday. Although I have only had it a day I would recommend it to any and everyone! The Samsung recovery is awesome, very easy to set up. SO FAST!! It downloaded MS Office in less than five minutes still runs fast after the install. I brought it to work today and turned it on at 8 AM, worked on it until 11, put it in sleep from 11-1:30 and then worked on it until four and there was STILL an hour and a half left!! (I did have the WIFI turned off as my office doesn't have wireless, might have made a difference). I was a bit worried about the trackpad, but I haven't had ANY problems, although I do have extremely tiny hands! It works perfectly with Skype as well. The case it comes with shouldn't be your only case...but it works fine if you are just carrying it in a purse. I did not install the 2GIG memory and it still is MUCH faster than my two-year-old dell insipron 1505.
Overall I have NOTHING to complain about this, i love it and i think you will too!
(Just a bit of advice-get the white if you are wanting a nice, clean computer at all times as the black, blue, and pink WILL attract fingerprints!)Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

This stands out among the other netbooks for its attention to functionality. The keyboard is terrific, and comfortable for touch-typing. The one drawback I've noted in a week of use is that the boundaries of the touchpad cannot easily be felt, so one's finger can easily slide beyond the touch pad.

The Samsung NC-10 is just perfect for what it was designed for. Instead of a lengthy review I will give a couple pros and cons on this product.
Pro's:
- Weight (just right to lug around anywhere)
- Three USB ports
- Bluetooth
- Price
- Keyboard size. Almost feels like a regular key board unlike smaller models.
- Battery Life, I get about 5 1/2 hours on normal operation.
Con's:
- Mouse, I chose a bluetooth mouse to replace it and not take one of the USB ports.

I increased the memory to the max of 2g and the performance has been excellent. I plan on using this machine for all of my home computing needs. The keyboard is a good size for my large hands. I have never been more satisfied as I am with the Samsung NC10 Netbook. It's keyboard, which is 93% the size of a regular keyboard, makes it very comfortable for my to input data. I enjoy the portability, the built-in bluetooth and wireless capability, as well as the 3 USB ports and one SD card slot. And, let's not forget the six-cell battery which gives me 6 hours of continual use. This has come in handy for me on several different occasions. I highly recommend this product.

My search for a netbook was all by chance. It started when my 4 year old HP desktop started showing me the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). Before I decided whether I was going to get it fixed or not, there was a "demo" of the ACER 8.6" netbook at Wal-Mart. So, I took a look at it and figured for the price (about $300) it would be a great stopgap solution and, not having a laptop, it would be nice for travel because of it's size. Being the consummate research shopper that I am, I investigated my options on the net. Amazon's the perfect place because of price and Free Super Saver Shipping.
Already long story short, I reduced my options to the ASUS EEE and the Samsung NC-10 (I discarded the thought of getting the Acer because it probably would have been too small; 8.6" screen). They both have similar features, but I ultimately chose the Samsung mainly because I had never heard of the Asus brand.
So, finally, here's the meat of my review.
Likes: Compact, but not too small (10.2" screen is not too much of a strain on the orbs). Keyboard is not too noticeably small (easier to type the numbers because they are closer). Three USB ports come in very handy, although I did run out of ports and had to connect my Power Sentry USB hub. I have also used the monitor connection to connect it to my 21" monitor, so that came in handy as well. Performance wise, I really can't notice any slowdown in speed in comparison to my HP which had 1.5GB RAM and an Intel Pentium 4 processor. I was on the fence about the blue or white and opted for the white, which I'm happy with because it's actually easier to see the keyboard (plus it'll be easier to see the cool stickers I'm going to put on it). I haven't really used it too much unplugged from the external power, but when I have, I was able to get about 5+ hours from the 6 cell battery. Pretty lightweight (under 3#?). WiFi seems to work pretty well, although I've only used it at home with a wireless g router.
Dislikes: When typing (like this review) it's easy to accidentally touch the touchpad which moves the cursor. Which has been a nuisance because you start typing in other places or open pull down menus. The speakers aren't much to write home about since they're under the unit itself. But they sound pretty good if you cup your hands under each one. LOL. No codec/decoder to play DVD's. So, if you're going to attach an external DVD Ram, like I did, you're going to have to do something about that. I'm no techie, but my solution was to download the "VLC player" which was free. It's kinda quirky to get it to play DVD's but it works. The part I'm really disappointed about is, I wish I had followed the advise of another reviewer on the initial setup of the NC-10. He/she said that when you first turn it on, you have the option of how you want to partition the harddrive. Like I said, I'm no techie, but apparently there are several options for partitioning. I've read that you can either choose to use all 160GB with no backup, use 117GB with 25GB backup (It doesn't eqaul 160GB because some memory is used for other resources), or take the default partition; 142GB split equally, which is what I chose and regret doing because I only have 71GB out of the advertised 160GB. I believe it is a one shot deal so make your choice wisely. And if you do chose the full 160GB, better back it up externally in case the BSOD pays a visit to your NC-10. =]
Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase having had it for about two weeks now. I would recommend a wireless mouse when using it at a desk to make things easier. I bought the Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks (Black). I also got a slim DVD-RW since there's no other way for me to load music or software to my netbook.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

What stands out among the other netbooks in Samsung NC10 is a great keyboard (size and feel), a non-glossy screen, and almost laptop size. In fact, I am pretty much using it in place of my old laptop. It does cost more than the $300 specials, but the difference is worth it to me.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
